In skin care formulations polysorbate 20 frequently acts as a supporting ingredient alongside heavier emulsifiers responsible for the overall texture of a cream. For example, paired with Glyceryl Monostearate 50 g it helps stabilize lighter emulsions, and together with Cetyl Alcohol 50 g it is used in cream recipes that need both a stable texture and proper dispersion of active ingredients. Polysorbate 20 also works well for solubilizing waxy aromatic blends, for instance distributing the scent of Rose Wax 100 g evenly through water based products where a light floral note is needed without a heavy oily base.

A typical dosage of polysorbate 20 ranges from one to four parts per one part of essential oil or fragrance blend, with the exact ratio depending on the density of the oil and the clarity desired in the final solution. The ingredient is added during the water phase, requires no heating and dissolves well at room temperature, although gentle warming to around 40-45 degrees can speed up mixing. Before adding it to a formula, polysorbate is usually blended with the essential oil or fragrance first, and the resulting mixture is then poured into water in a thin stream while stirring continuously, which produces a more stable and clearer result.

Store polysorbate 20 in a tightly closed container, in a dry place away from direct sunlight and at a moderate room temperature, avoiding overheating and moisture entering the packaging.

Combine polysorbate 20 with the lavender and orange essential oils first, stirring until the mixture becomes smooth and uniform, then slowly add a small portion of the water while mixing. Pour in the remaining water in a thin stream while stirring continuously, add the preservative at the end, transfer the finished mist into a clean spray bottle and let it settle for a few hours before first use.
