A Deep Metallic Shimmer for Resin Art, Nail Design and Handmade Décor
Liquid pearl pigments have long moved beyond a single niche and are now widely used across industries ranging from decorative cosmetics and nail art to epoxy resin crafting, candle making and interior décor items. Black liquid metallic pearl stands out for its deep graphite tone with a pronounced metallic sheen that only reveals itself in light thanks to microscopic mica particles coated with titanium dioxide. This effect is particularly valued by nail artists, resin decorators and makers of artisan jewelry, where a flat matte fill simply won't do justice to the desired shimmering play of light. This pigment belongs to the broader Liquid Metallic Pearl range, which brings together shades for very different projects, from soft pastels to deep dramatic tones.
The main application of black liquid metallic pearl is decorating epoxy resin pieces such as coasters, jewelry, watch faces, wall art and interior objects. The pigment is mixed directly into the resin during the blending stage, before the hardener is added, which ensures an even distribution of particles without clumping or settling at the bottom. A few drops per 100 grams of resin are usually enough to achieve a rich smoky effect, though the final color intensity should always be tested on a small trial batch, since perception of the shade depends heavily on pour thickness and the transparency of the base. In the nail industry, the same pigment is used to create striking gel polish and acrylic system designs, where a few drops are blended into a clear base or top coat.
Beyond resin and nail services, black liquid metallic pearl is also used in decorative candle making, where it is stirred into melted wax at around 60 to 70 degrees Celsius until fully blended, and in soap crafting for creating dramatic swirls and gradients on the soap surface. The pigment is compatible with clear and translucent bases, silicone molds, carrier oils and most synthetic polymers, making it a versatile tool for small workshops and home experimentation alike. The compact 10 ml size is particularly well suited for trial batches and testing new formulations, allowing formulators to dial in the right concentration economically without risking a large volume of base material.
Black is often combined with other shades from the palette to create transitions and gradient effects: paired with Bordeaux Liquid Metallic Pearl 10 ml it produces deep burgundy-graphite blends, while combining it with Red Liquid Metallic Pearl 10 ml creates a contrasting duochrome effect popular in decorative cosmetics and nail design. To soften the intensity of black and add a smoky silvery shimmer, formulators often blend in a small amount of Pearl Liquid Metallic Pearl 10 ml, achieving a transitional tone between deep black and a lighter pearlescent glow.
Before use, the bottle should be gently shaken since pigment particles may settle during storage. Keep the product tightly sealed in a dry place away from direct sunlight and heat sources at room temperature, which preserves the stability of the shimmer and prevents the formula from drying out. Once opened, it is best to use the contents within a few months to retain maximum brightness of the effect.

Mix the resin with the hardener in the ratio specified by the manufacturer, stirring thoroughly for three minutes until fully combined. Split the mixture into two portions, blend the black pearl pigment into one and the pearl shade into the other, stirring each separately with a wooden stick. Pour the colored portions alternately into a silicone mold in a thin stream, tilting the mold slightly to create natural smoky swirls, then leave the piece to cure at room temperature for twenty four hours away from drafts and dust.
