Working With a Concentrated Scarlet Shade Across Small-Batch Formulas
Scarlet liquid pigment ultra in a 10 ml bottle belongs to the range of Pigment Liquid ULTRA Dyes, a collection of concentrated liquid colorants suited to a wide range of bases. The compact volume makes it practical for hobbyists and small studios that want to trial a shade before committing to a larger batch of finished goods. This kind of bold red pigment is widely used in decorative cosmetics for lip glosses and nail lacquers, in bath bomb and bath salt production, in candle making, in resin art and polymer clay work, and occasionally as a colorant for soap bases - the latter being just one of many uses rather than the main focus.
Dosage depends on the density of the base and the depth of color required: light emulsions and gels usually need only a few drops per 100 g of mass, while thicker substances such as wax or resin often call for a slightly higher concentration. The pigment should be added once the base has cooled somewhat or reached a smooth consistency - around 60-70 degrees Celsius for wax blends, or at the very end of mixing for cold-process cosmetic emulsions, stirring thoroughly until the color is even. Adding the dye gradually in small increments helps avoid streaking and lets you stop exactly at the shade you're aiming for.
Scarlet pigment pairs well with botanical extracts that are often introduced into a formula alongside the colorant. In gel and serum formulas, it's frequently combined with Queen's Root extract, valued for its toning properties. In bath products, the deep red tone works nicely alongside Liquid Chocolate Extract, giving compositions a berry-cocoa feel. In skincare serums and creams, the color is sometimes paired with Snow Mushroom Extract, which contributes a moisturizing character to the final product.
Store the bottle tightly closed, away from direct sunlight and heat sources, at room temperature. Freezing is not recommended, as it may affect the uniformity of the pigment once thawed. Under proper storage conditions, an opened bottle keeps its working properties for a long stretch, which is convenient when the dye is used only occasionally in small amounts.
Scarlet Resin Coaster
Clear epoxy resin 150 ml
Hardener 75 ml
Scarlet liquid pigment ultra 0,6 ml
Mica powder gold 2 g
Isopropyl alcohol 5 ml
Measure the resin and hardener according to the manufacturer's ratio and mix them slowly in a plastic cup for about three minutes, scraping the sides and bottom to avoid unmixed pockets. Add the scarlet pigment along with a pinch of gold mica powder, stirring gently until the color turns fully even without streaks. Pour the mixture into a silicone coaster mold, then lightly spray the surface with isopropyl alcohol to pop any surface bubbles. Leave the mold undisturbed on a flat surface for at least 24 hours to cure before demolding.
