What the re-batch process in Crystal SP-SG soap base brings to small studio manufacturing
Soap base Crystal Re batch SP-SG in a 9 kg pack belongs to the category of Melt and Pour Soap Bases and is a ready-to-melt semi-finished product made through a re-batching process of already saponified oils. This approach gives a dense, plastic bar with gentle foaming properties, while manufacturers do not need to handle lye directly on site, which considerably simplifies and speeds up the production cycle for solid cosmetic bars. The main global demand for such bases comes from small cosmetic manufactories, private studios and hospitality supply lines that need a semi-finished product with stable properties and no complex chemical processing.
The 9 kg pack size is aimed at bridging the gap between home experiments and a proper studio scale: batches of this volume are convenient to plan for recurring orders, small wholesale sales and gift lines, while raw material consumption stays predictable and easy to scale further. The base holds its shape well once set, allows the addition of vegetable oils, extracts, essential and fragrance oils, as well as cosmetic pigments and mica powders without losing the bar's structure.
In practice the base is cut into cubes and melted in a water bath or a dedicated melter at 60-70 degrees Celsius, avoiding boiling and heavy steam formation, since overheating reduces plasticity and shortens the shelf life of the finished product. Active additives such as oils, extracts, fragrances and colorants are introduced once the melt cools to 55-60 degrees, gently stirring the mass until uniform before pouring into molds. After setting at room temperature the bar is removed from the mold and left for a day or two to fully stabilize its structure.
Crystal Re batch SP-SG combines well with other bases from the line, opening up options for layered compositions: for instance, pairing it with Soap base Crystal Shea 11.5kg adds extra nourishment through shea butter in the top or bottom layer of the bar, while a clear layer based on Crystal Clear Max 5 - transparent soap base, 12 kg creates a striking visual contrast in gift and collectible items. For a more natural formulation profile the base is also blended with Soap Base Crystal Natural HF 11.5 kg, producing a bar with gentler characteristics suitable for sensitive skin.
Beyond classic toilet bars, this base is used in the production of guest soaps, souvenir items, spa gift sets and small batches of gift cosmetics. The unopened block should be stored in a dry room at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture sources; under these conditions the shelf life is usually between twelve and eighteen months. Any opened leftover should be tightly wrapped in film to prevent the surface from drying out before the next melt.
Green tea and lemongrass bar
Soap base Crystal Re batch SP-SG 500 g
Green tea extract 8 ml
Lemongrass essential oil 10 drops
Sweet almond oil 15 ml
Green mica powder 2 g
Cut the base into cubes and melt it in a water bath at around 65 degrees Celsius until fully uniform, keeping the mixture from boiling. Once the melt cools to 55-58 degrees, stir in the green tea extract and sweet almond oil until evenly combined. Add the green mica powder gradually while stirring to avoid streaking, then introduce the lemongrass essential oil right before pouring. Pour the mixture into molds and leave it to set at room temperature for several hours before unmolding.
