A Bright Citrus Note for Perfumery, Skincare and Home Fragrance Production
Lemongrass essential oil in a 10 ml bottle belongs to the broad category of essential oils, a segment with steady global demand from perfumers, cosmetic formulators and household product manufacturers. Around the world the leading application of lemongrass oil is fragrance creation: its fresh, grassy-citrus profile serves as a base or supporting note in masculine and unisex perfume compositions, and it is widely used in fragrances for candles, home sprays, laundry care and car air fresheners. The second major area is skincare, where the oil is valued in formulations for oily and blemish-prone skin, pore-refining products, and sports or massage blends thanks to its refreshing, invigorating character. A separate niche is natural insect-repellent products, where lemongrass has long served as a plant-based alternative to synthetic active ingredients.
The oil blends particularly well with other aromatic materials: its sharp citrus edge is softened by floral notes, which is why perfumers often pair it with ylang ylang essential oil to add depth and roundness, while lemon essential oil is added to reinforce the citrus accord in a composition. In cleansing formulas and purifying blends for problem skin, lemongrass is frequently combined with thyme essential oil for a stronger clarifying effect in the finished product.
In any formulation, lemongrass essential oil should be added at the final stage into a cool or slightly warm base, at a temperature not exceeding 40 degrees Celsius, so its volatile compounds remain intact. Recommended dosage for cosmetic emulsions and oil blends ranges from 0.3 to 1 percent of total mass, while home sprays and air fresheners typically use between 1 and 3 percent depending on desired intensity. For candles and household fragrance bases, dosage should be tested gradually starting from small amounts, since the scent is strong and persistent. The oil is not meant to be applied directly to skin without dilution in a carrier oil or emulsifier, as undiluted use may cause irritation at higher concentrations.
The 10 ml size is well suited for small home batches of cosmetics, testing new formulas before scaling up production, and personal use in aroma diffusers and burners. Store the oil in a tightly sealed bottle, away from direct sunlight and heat sources, to keep its volatile compounds stable throughout the shelf life.
