Within pharmaceutical manufacturing, this component is used to prepare ointments and liniments on an emulsion base, while in cosmetic formulation it is valued for its ability to perform across a wide range of oil phase loads, from light fluids to dense nourishing creams.

Polawax should be introduced into the oil phase at a temperature of 70-75 degrees Celsius, allowing it to fully melt together with oils and waxes, after which the phase is combined with the water portion heated to the same temperature. The standard dosage ranges from 3 to 8 percent of the total formula weight depending on the desired cream density. The mixture needs to be emulsified through intensive stirring for several minutes, then cooled with continuous mixing down to room temperature to form a stable structure.

This emulsifier pairs well with vegetable oils, silicones, and other consistency stabilizers such as Carnauba Wax, which is added in small amounts to increase the firmness of balms and sticks. For extra softness and easier spreadability, Polawax can be combined with the mild emulsifier Ecomuls 2 in 1, which broadens the range of achievable textures in the finished product. The fragrance component of a cream can be conveniently shaped using natural waxy ingredients like Tuberose Wax, introduced at the final cooling stage of the emulsion to preserve the scent.

Polawax should be stored in a dry, cool place away from direct sunlight, in tightly sealed packaging to prevent oxidation and moisture absorption. Under proper storage conditions the product remains stable for a long period, making it a convenient raw material for repeated use in small batches.

Melt the oil phase containing Polawax, shea butter and almond oil on a water bath until it reaches 75 degrees, while heating the water with glycerin separately to the same temperature. Combine the two phases, whisking or blending vigorously for 3-4 minutes until a smooth emulsion forms, then cool while stirring, adding vitamin E and fragrance oil once the mixture drops to around 40 degrees. Transfer the finished lotion into a clean jar and let it stabilize for several hours before use.
