Description and Key Features
Tuberose Wax (INCI: Polianthes tuberosa flower wax) is a precious byproduct obtained during the solvent extraction of tuberose blossoms for perfumery. This solid wax captures not only the subtle, captivating aroma of the tuberose flower but also its beneficial emollient and protective properties, making it a highly sought-after ingredient in high-end natural cosmetics.
Key features and benefits:
- Natural Emollient and Thickener: As a solid wax, it provides excellent emollient properties, creating a protective barrier on the skin that helps prevent moisture loss. It also acts as a natural thickener, imparting a desirable consistency to creams, balms, and stick products.
- Subtle Natural Fragrance: Possesses a unique nutty, fruity, not-too-heavy floral scent that adds a sophisticated and natural aroma to your products without being overpowering. This makes it an ideal alternative to synthetic fragrances.
- Enhances Product Stability: Its wax structure helps to stabilize emulsions, improve the texture of balms, and increase the viscosity of liquid formulations, leading to more robust and pleasant-to-use products.
- Skin Conditioning: Contributes to softer, smoother skin due to its occlusive properties, which lock in moisture and nourish the skin.
- 100% Natural Organic Quality: Sourced from Germany, ensuring the highest standards of purity and organic certification, free from synthetic additives.
- Optimal Melting Point: With a melting point of 50°C, it is easy to work with in cosmetic formulations, typically melting smoothly into oil phases.

Instructions for Preparation:
- Sanitize: Thoroughly sanitize all your equipment (heat-safe beakers, stirring rods, scales, and the empty deodorant stick tube) with isopropyl alcohol and allow them to air dry completely.
- Melt Waxes & Oils (Phase A): In a heat-safe beaker, combine Tuberose Wax, Candelilla Wax, Jojoba Oil, and Fractionated Coconut Oil.
- Gentle Heat: Place the beaker in a double boiler (bain-marie) or use a very low heat setting on a hot plate. Gently heat the mixture, stirring occasionally, until all waxes are completely melted and the mixture is clear and homogeneous. Ensure the temperature does not exceed 70°C to preserve the delicate aroma of the Tuberose Wax.
- Add Vitamin E: Once fully melted, remove the beaker from the heat. Stir in the Vitamin E.
- Pour into Container: Carefully pour the molten mixture into the clean, empty deodorant stick tube or push-up tube.
- Cool and Set: Allow the solid perfume stick to cool completely at room temperature. For faster setting, you can place it in the refrigerator for about 30-60 minutes, ensuring it is level.
- Cap: Once fully hardened, cap the tube.
Recommendations for Application and Use:
- Dosage: The 3.5% concentration of Tuberose Wax in this recipe provides a noticeable natural aroma and contributes to the stick's solid consistency. This falls within the recommended 3-4% for solid perfumes.
- Melting Method: Always melt Tuberose Wax gently in an oil phase using a double boiler or low heat to prevent overheating, which can degrade its delicate fragrance. Its melting point of 50°C makes this process straightforward.
- Storage: Store the solid perfume stick in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme heat to prevent melting or degradation of the oils and fragrance.
- Application: To use, simply rub the solid perfume stick directly onto pulse points (wrists, neck, behind ears) for a subtle and long-lasting natural fragrance.
- Versatility: This base can be adapted. For a more intense floral scent, you can add a few drops of Tuberose essential oil or other complementary essential oils (like Ylang Ylang or Jasmine) to the melted mixture before pouring.
- Not for Candles: As mentioned, Tuberose Wax is primarily for cosmetic applications and solid perfumes. It is not recommended for candle making.
