Description and Key Features
Tuberose Wax (INCI: Polianthes tuberosa flower wax) is a byproduct of the enfleurage or solvent extraction process used to obtain tuberose absolute. During this process, the fragrant compounds of the tuberose flower are captured within a waxy matrix, preserving their delicate aroma and beneficial properties. This exquisite wax is prized for its emollient, protective, and subtly fragrant qualities, making it a valuable asset in natural cosmetic formulations.
Key features and benefits:
- Natural Emollient and Skin Conditioner: Tuberose Wax forms a protective, non-occlusive layer on the skin, helping to lock in moisture, reduce trans-epidermal water loss (TEWL), and leave the skin feeling soft and smooth. It contributes to a luxurious skin feel.
- Unique Aromatic Profile: Possessing a distinctive nutty, subtly fruity, and delicate floral aroma, it can serve as a natural fragrance component in your formulations, adding depth and complexity without being overpowering.
- Stabilizer and Thickener: Its solid wax form provides excellent stabilizing and thickening properties, enhancing the texture and consistency of emulsions, balms, and sticks. It helps to prevent separation in creams and lotions.
- 100% Natural & Organic Quality: Sourced from Germany, our Tuberose Wax is guaranteed to be 100% natural and organic, ensuring purity and sustainability in your product line.
- Versatile Solubility: Easily disperses and dissolves in various carrier oils and essential oils, making it compatible with a wide range of oil-based and emulsified formulations.

Instructions for Preparation:
- Sanitize: Thoroughly sanitize all your equipment (beakers, stirring rods, lip balm tubes/pots) with isopropyl alcohol and allow them to air dry completely.
- Combine Phase A: In a heat-safe beaker, combine Shea Butter, Fractionated Coconut Oil, Castor Oil, Candelilla Wax, and Tuberose Wax.
- Melt Waxes & Oils: Gently heat the mixture in a double boiler or microwave (using short bursts) until all waxes and oils are completely melted and clear. Stir occasionally to ensure even melting.
- Add Vitamin E: Once completely melted, remove from heat and add Vitamin E Oil. Stir well.
- Cool Slightly & Add Phase B: Allow the mixture to cool for a minute or two (it should still be liquid but not boiling hot). If using, add any optional essential oils or lip-safe mica and stir thoroughly to ensure even distribution.
- Pour: Carefully pour the liquid lip balm into your prepared lip balm tubes or pots.
- Cool and Set: Allow the lip balms to cool completely and set at room temperature. For faster setting, you can place them in the refrigerator for 15-20 minutes.
- Cap and Label: Once fully solid, cap the lip balm containers and label them.
Recommendations for Application and Use:
- Dosage: The 2% concentration of Tuberose Wax is ideal for lip balms, providing excellent emollience and contributing to the balm's texture and subtle aroma.
- Melting: Tuberose Wax has a melting point of 50°C, so ensure your oil phase reaches this temperature to fully incorporate it.
- Blending with Oils: Tuberose Wax blends seamlessly with various carrier oils, making it versatile for different oil-based formulations.
- Natural Scent: Tuberose Wax imparts its own delicate, natural scent. You may choose to omit additional essential oils if you prefer the subtle aroma of the wax itself.
- Storage: Store the finished lip balm in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to maintain its consistency and extend its shelf life.
- Application: Apply to lips as needed throughout the day for hydration, protection, and a soft, smooth feel.
- Patch Test: While natural, it's always wise to perform a patch test on a small area of skin before widespread use, especially if you have sensitive skin or known allergies.
