A dependable wax-type emulsifier built for consistent large-batch production
Polawax is one of the most widely used emulsifiers in the global cosmetic industry, favored for its reliable performance in creams, lotions, balms and a broad range of emulsion-based formulations. The 1 kg package suits manufacturers who need dependable batch-to-batch consistency and steady raw material supply for continuous production lines. This ingredient belongs to the Emulsifiers
category, where you can find materials designed to build stable oil-in-water systems of varying thickness and purpose.
The primary demand for Polawax comes from cosmetic manufacturing: moisturizing and nourishing creams, body lotions, aftershave balms, baby care products and hand and foot creams. The emulsifier creates a stable wax-emulsion system that holds moisture well while giving the finished product a pleasant, non-greasy skin feel. Its versatility allows it to work in both light, fluid lotions and dense, oil-rich creams. Food and pharmaceutical industries rely on this type of emulsifier far less often, which is why the main market for Polawax is cosmetic production, ranging from small workshops to large-scale factories.
Typical usage rates range from 3 to 25 percent of the total formula weight, depending on the desired consistency and oil phase content. Light emulsions generally require only 3-5 percent, while dense creams and balms call for 15-25 percent. The emulsifier should be added to the oil phase during heating until fully melted, at around 70-75 degrees Celsius, after which the oil phase is slowly poured into the water phase preheated to the same temperature, with continuous stirring. Matching the temperature of both phases is essential for achieving a smooth, stable emulsion without separation.
Polawax pairs well with vegetable and cosmetic oils, silicones, and additional emulsion stabilizers. To boost the stability of the finished product and add body to the texture, many formulators include Berry wax, which is added to the oil phase to reinforce the cream structure. For formulas containing sensitive active ingredients, the emulsion is often further stabilized with Synthalen® W400, while lighter, more fluid textures benefit from combining Polawax with Emulsifier EMULPHARMA PG20, which helps adjust the final density of the product.
Store the emulsifier in a dry place away from direct sunlight, at room temperature, in a tightly sealed container to prevent moisture and contamination. Under proper storage conditions the material retains its emulsifying properties for a long period, which matters greatly for manufacturers purchasing larger volumes for ongoing production.
