Building Stable Cream Formulas Around a Single Emulsifying System
Ecomuls 2 in 1 is a combined emulsifying agent that brings together the aqueous and oil phases of a cosmetic formula into one stable system that resists separation over time. As the name suggests, the ingredient performs two roles at once - it acts as the primary emulsifier while also contributing to the texture stabilization of the final product, which allows formulators to simplify recipes and reduce the number of additional thickeners. This product belongs to the Emulsifiers
section, which brings together various binding systems for cosmetic emulsions, and the 1 kg packaging makes it a practical choice for small production studios, labs and businesses running regular small-batch manufacturing.
The most common application of this emulsifier is in the production of face and body creams, lotions, cleansing milks, emulsion masks and balms. Beyond cosmetics, similar emulsifying systems are used in pharmaceutical and dermatological cream bases intended for topical use, as well as in some household emulsions where a stable, non-separating texture is required. Ecomuls performs reliably across a wide pH range and produces light, non-greasy textures, which is particularly valued in modern daytime and moisturizing cream formulations.
The emulsifier should be introduced into the oil phase at around 70-75 degrees Celsius, allowed to fully melt, after which the oil phase is gradually poured into the water phase preheated to the same temperature while stirring continuously. The typical usage rate ranges from 3 to 6 percent of the total formula weight, depending on the desired emulsion density and oil content. The emulsifier pairs well with vegetable oils, silicones, and wax-type additives - for instance, with Jasmine Grandiflorum Wax, which adds extra softness to the texture and a subtle natural scent to finished creams. For denser balms and nourishing creams, it is also combined with Tuberose Wax, which reinforces the structuring properties of the formula.
When a lighter, more fluid emulsion with a silky glide is needed, this emulsifier can be paired with MONTANOV 202, allowing precise adjustment of density and stability, especially in formulas with a high concentration of active ingredients. The emulsifier should be stored in a dry place at room temperature, in a tightly sealed container protected from direct sunlight and moisture, which preserves its functional properties throughout the shelf life.
Silky Daily Face Lotion
Distilled water 70 g
Ecomuls 2 in 1 5 g
Sweet almond oil 7 g
Jasmine Grandiflorum Wax 2 g
Glycerin 4 g
Preservative 1 g
Geranium essential oil 0.3 g
Heat
the water phase with glycerin separately from the oil phase containing the
emulsifier, almond oil and jasmine wax until both reach 75 degrees Celsius.
Slowly pour the oil phase into the water phase while stirring continuously
until a smooth, uniform lotion forms. Once the mixture cools to 40 degrees, add
the preservative and essential oil, stir thoroughly and transfer the finished lotion
into clean bottles.
