Cedar Essential Oil, 1 L from China
This is cedar essential oil in a 1 L container, produced in China. The product card gives the INCI name Cedar essentia Oil, describes the oil as an oily liquid that is light yellow with a slight greenish tint, and lists solubility in oil and alcohol. The botanical species is not stated on the card, so ask for the lot documents if your product file needs it.
Why cedar oils are useful
Cedar-type oils are prized for a dry, woody, long-lasting scent. They tend to evaporate slowly, which makes them natural base notes and fixatives: they extend the life of fresher oils in a blend and give it a calm, grounded finish. The card itself describes the scent simply as characteristic.
Main applications
Men's grooming
Beard oils, beard balms, aftershave lotions and shower gels with a woody profile.
Hair and scalp products
Shampoos and scalp tonics where a woody note feels clean and natural.
Home and wellness fragrance
Diffuser blends, sachets, wardrobe sprays and sauna aromas.
Card dosage for aroma uses
For aroma uses the card gives 2 to 4 drops per emulsifier for a full bath, 6 to 10 drops per 5 ml of emulsifier for an air spray, 1 to 3 drops for an aroma lamp and 25 drops per 1 kg of bath salt. These figures are useful starting points for home fragrance and bath products.
In cosmetic products
In leave-on products woody oils are typically used at 0.5 to 1.5 %, in rinse-off products up to 2 %. Add the oil below 40 °C to the oil phase, or premix it with a solubiliser for water-based systems.
Blending partners
Bergamot, lavender, rosemary, vetiver, patchouli, frankincense and orange all work well with cedar. You will find them in wholesale essential oils, with butters for balms in wholesale solid oils.
Example: woody wardrobe spray, 100 ml
Premix 1.5 ml of cedar essential oil and 0.5 ml of lavender essential oil with 6 ml of polysorbate 20. Add 30 ml of ethanol 96 % and then 62 ml of distilled water.
Stir the oils into the polysorbate until clear, pour in the ethanol and add the water slowly while stirring. Bottle in a fine mist sprayer and test on a hidden area of fabric first. Cedar makes up 1.5 % of the spray.
Storage
Keep the container tightly closed in a cool place away from direct light. Woody oils oxidise more slowly than citrus oils, but limiting air in the container still keeps the scent stable for longer.
