Why Formulators Rely on This Emulsifier for Consistent Batches
Emulpharma IXL is a complex emulsifier engineered to create stable oil-in-water emulsions across a wide range of cosmetic and industrial formulations. The 1 kg pack size suits studio-scale production and small-batch runs, allowing formulators to test recipes across several batches before scaling up, while also serving as a practical option for regular purchasing by small production facilities. This ingredient belongs to the Emulsifiers section, which brings together components used to bind water and oil phases in creams, lotions, balms and other two-phase systems.
The primary application of Emulpharma IXL lies in the production of face and body creams, lotions, emulsion serums, sun care products and cleansing milks. The emulsifier delivers a fine, uniform texture resistant to phase separation during storage and temperature fluctuations, which is essential for industrial batches with extended shelf life. Beyond cosmetics, similar emulsifiers are used in technical creams, emulsion-based household chemical products and certain pharmaceutical ointment bases where a stable distribution of the lipid phase within the aqueous medium is required.
The recommended dosage of Emulpharma IXL typically ranges from 3 to 6 percent of the total formulation weight, with the exact amount depending on oil content and the desired viscosity of the final product. The ingredient is introduced during preparation of the oil phase, which is heated to approximately 70-75 degrees and then combined with the water phase preheated to the same temperature under continuous stirring. This temperature regime ensures complete melting and even distribution of the emulsifier throughout the mixture, directly affecting the stability of the finished emulsion.
Emulpharma IXL pairs well with vegetable oils and butters, particularly SILKY SHEA 1 kg, which adds nourishing and softening properties to the emulsion. To improve system stability and enhance solubilization of active ingredients, formulators often add Polysorbate 80 100 g, especially when the formula contains essential oils or fragrance. As a supplementary thickener and texture stabilizer, small amounts of EMULPHARMA K10, 30 g can be used to fine-tune density and application feel.
Emulpharma IXL should be stored in a tightly sealed container, in a dry space at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and heat sources. When storage conditions are respected, the emulsifier retains its working properties throughout the shelf life stated by the manufacturer, making the 1 kg pack an economically sound choice for laboratories and small production lines planning regular emulsion output.
Everyday Hand and Body Lotion
Distilled water 720 ml
Emulpharma IXL 40 g
SILKY SHEA 55 g
Sweet almond oil 45 g
Glycerin 30 g
Polysorbate 80 10 g
Preservative 8 g
Fragrance oil 5 g
Heat the water phase with glycerin to 75 degrees, and separately heat the oil phase containing shea butter, almond oil and Emulpharma IXL to the same temperature until fully melted. Slowly pour the oil phase into the water phase while stirring continuously with a mixer for 5-7 minutes until a uniform emulsion forms. Cool the mixture to 40 degrees, add polysorbate 80, preservative and fragrance oil, mix for a few more minutes, then transfer into clean containers.
