Building Stable Creams and Lotions with Emulpharma IXL
Emulpharma IXL is a complex emulsifying system created to bind water and oil phases into a smooth, stable structure across a wide range of textures, from fluid lotions to rich body butters. It belongs to the broad category of emulsifiers, the foundation of any cream, lotion or emulsion that needs to hold its texture over time. The 30 gram packaging is designed for home formulators and small trial batches, giving enough material for numerous test runs before scaling up to larger production volumes.
The primary field of use for Emulpharma IXL is facial and body skincare manufacturing: day and night creams, lotions, cleansing milks, and sun care products. The emulsifier also performs well in hair care formulations such as conditioners, masks, and leave-in treatments. Beyond conventional skincare, this component finds regular use in small cosmetic studios and professional lines where consistent texture stability throughout the shelf life of the finished product is essential.
The emulsifier should be added to the oil phase while heating to around 70-75 degrees Celsius, with typical dosage ranging from 3 to 6 percent of total formula weight depending on the desired thickness of the final emulsion. Once the water phase is combined with the oil phase, the mixture is homogenized with an immersion blender until a stable, uniform structure forms, then cooled under continuous stirring. Emulpharma IXL pairs well with thickeners, plant oils, butters, and active ingredients added during the cool-down phase below 40 degrees - notably Chitosan PCA, which contributes film-forming and moisturizing properties, along with Jasmine Grandiflorum Wax, which works simultaneously as a natural fragrance and texturizing element.
Formulators experimenting with different emulsification systems may find it useful to also keep Emulpharma ECOTECH on hand, since it relies on a different stabilization mechanism and suits lighter-textured products better. Comparing the two emulsifiers across trial batches helps identify the optimal formula for a specific product type.
Emulpharma IXL should be stored in a cool, dry place, in tightly sealed packaging, away from direct sunlight and moisture, which preserves its emulsifying activity throughout the stated shelf life.
Light Facial Lotion with IXL Emulsifier
Distilled water 65 g
Sweet almond oil 8 g
Shea butter 6 g
Emulpharma IXL 4 g
Glycerin 3 g
Allantoin 2 g
Preservative 1 g
Heat the oil phase together with the emulsifier in a water bath to 75 degrees, warming the water phase with glycerin separately to the same temperature. Slowly pour the water phase into the oil phase while stirring continuously, then homogenize with an immersion blender for two to three minutes until a smooth, uniform texture forms. Cool the lotion to 40 degrees, add allantoin and preservative, mix thoroughly, and transfer into clean pump bottles.
