Instructions:
- Phase A: Combine distilled water and glycerin in a heat-resistant beaker. Heat to 70-75°C (158-167°F).
- Phase B: In a separate heat-resistant beaker, combine EMULPHARMA K10, jojoba oil, shea butter, and cetyl alcohol. Heat to 70-75°C (158-167°F), stirring until completely melted.
- Slowly pour Phase B into Phase A while continuously stirring with a stick blender or whisk.
- Continue stirring for 2-3 minutes until a homogenous emulsion forms.
- Remove from heat and continue stirring gently as the emulsion cools down.
- Once the emulsion has cooled to below 40°C (104°F), add the Vitamin E, preservative, and fragrance (if used) (Phase C).
- Stir gently until all ingredients are fully incorporated.
- Transfer the cream to a clean container.
Application Recommendations:
- EMULPHARMA K10 is typically used in concentrations ranging from 3% to 8% in O/W emulsions, depending on the desired viscosity and stability.
- Ensure proper heating of both the water and oil phases to the recommended temperature range for optimal emulsification.
- Maintain consistent stirring during the emulsification process to achieve a stable and homogenous emulsion.
- Add heat-sensitive ingredients during the cool-down phase (below 40°C/104°F) to prevent degradation.
- The addition of co-emulsifiers or stabilizers (e.g., cetyl alcohol, cetearyl alcohol) can further enhance the stability and texture of the emulsion.
- Adjust the oil phase concentration to achieve the desired richness and emollience of the final product.
- Ensure the pH of the final formulation is within the stable range for the preservative used.
- Store the finished product in appropriate packaging to maintain its quality and prevent contamination.
