Instructions:
- In a heat-resistant beaker, combine the distilled water and glycerin. Heat to 70-75°C (158-167°F).
- In a separate heat-resistant beaker, combine EMULPHARMA K10, jojoba oil, and cetyl alcohol. Heat to 70-75°C (158-167°F), stirring until completely melted.
- Slowly pour the oil phase into the water phase while continuously stirring with a stick blender or whisk.
- Continue stirring for several minutes until a smooth emulsion forms.
- Remove from heat and continue stirring gently as the lotion cools down.
- Once the lotion has cooled to below 40°C (104°F), add the vitamin E, preservative, and fragrance oil (if using). Stir gently until fully incorporated.
- Transfer the lotion to a clean container.
Application Recommendations:
- EMULPHARMA K10 is typically used at concentrations ranging from 3% to 10% depending on the desired viscosity and texture of the emulsion. Lower percentages will yield thinner lotions, while higher percentages will result in thicker creams.
- It is recommended to heat both the oil and water phases to the same temperature (70-75°C) before combining them to ensure proper emulsification.
- Stirring vigorously during the emulsification process is crucial for creating a stable and homogeneous emulsion.
- Allow the emulsion to cool down completely while stirring gently to prevent the formation of large crystals or an unstable product.
- EMULPHARMA K10 can emulsify a wide variety of oils, including vegetable oils, esters, and mineral oils.
- Consider the addition of co-emulsifiers or stabilizers depending on the complexity of your formulation and the desired stability profile.
- Ensure the preservative system used is compatible with the non-ionic nature of EMULPHARMA K10 and effective against microbial contamination.
- Refer to the manufacturer's specifications for detailed usage guidelines and compatibility information.
