Potassium Hydroxide KOH 500 g

Caustic Potash KOH for liquid soap manufacturing and cleaning formulations

Caustic Potash KOH is widely used in liquid soap production, industrial cleaning systems, detergent concentrates and alkaline processing formulations where strong solubility and stable alkaline performance are required. The highest global demand for Potassium Hydroxide is strongly connected to soap making, industrial cleaning products and technical detergent manufacturing because KOH remains one of the most important raw materials for soft liquid soap systems and cleansing formulations.

Potassium Hydroxide is a highly reactive alkaline material with fast water solubility and strong saponification performance. Due to its ability to efficiently react with fats and oils, KOH is extensively used in the production of liquid soap, black soap, cream soap, soap paste and various cleansing products. In modern soap manufacturing industries, Potassium Hydroxide remains one of the key ingredients for producing flexible and highly soluble soap systems.

In liquid soap manufacturing, Caustic Potash is used to create soft soap formulations with stable foam formation and smooth texture. Compared to Sodium Hydroxide, Potassium Hydroxide produces more flexible and elastic soap bases commonly used in hand wash products, liquid soap systems, shaving soap and artisan soap making formulations.

Within industrial cleaning formulations, Potassium Hydroxide is used in alkaline cleaners, degreasing concentrates, cleaning compounds and technical detergent systems designed for removing oil-based, fatty and organic contamination. Its strong alkaline properties make KOH a preferred ingredient in heavy-duty cleaning products and industrial maintenance formulations.

In chemical manufacturing industries, Potassium Hydroxide is utilized in the production of potassium salts, pH control systems, processing solutions and chemical intermediates. KOH is also used in selected food processing and industrial manufacturing applications as a functional processing material.

In cosmetic manufacturing, Caustic Potash is primarily valued as a soap making ingredient for liquid cleansing systems. It helps create soft soap texture, improves foam quality and supports the production of more comfortable cleansing formulations.

The material is commonly supplied as white flakes, pellets or granules with strong hygroscopic properties. Potassium Hydroxide rapidly absorbs moisture from the air and should therefore be stored in tightly sealed containers. During handling, protective gloves and eye protection are required to avoid direct skin or eye contact.

Potassium Hydroxide dissolves rapidly in water while generating significant heat. When preparing alkaline solutions, KOH should always be slowly added into water while mixing continuously.

Soft liquid soap formulation with Caustic Potash KOH

Phase A
Purified Water - 220 g
Vegetable Glycerin - 25 g

Phase B
Caustic Potash KOH - 45 g

Phase C
Refined Coconut Oil - 150 g
Refined Olive Oil - 60 g
Castor Oil - 30 g

Phase D
D-Panthenol 75% - 2 g
Geogard 221 Preservative - 2 g
White Cotton Fragrance Oil - 1 g

Slowly add Caustic Potash KOH into water while stirring continuously. The solution will heat rapidly during dissolution. Allow the granules to fully dissolve and cool to approximately 65-70°C.

Separately heat the oils to the same temperature range. Gradually combine the alkaline solution with the oil phase and begin mixing using short immersion blender pulses. Once a stable trace develops, continue cooking the soap paste under gentle heat for approximately 2 hours until a semi-transparent flexible soap mass forms.

After saponification is complete, gradually add hot water to adjust the final viscosity. Once the formulation cools below 40°C, add Phase D and mix gently.

The finished product becomes a soft liquid soap with stable foam performance, flexible texture and comfortable cleansing properties. The formulation works well for hand wash products, liquid soap systems, cleansing gels and artisan soap making applications.
