Powder Form of Vitamin B5: A Stable Ingredient for Multiple Manufacturing Lines
D-Panthenol 50P is a dry, stable form of provitamin B5, produced by depositing the active pantothenol compound onto an inert carrier for easy handling in industrial processes. This form is widely valued across pharmaceutical, food and cosmetic manufacturing because it can be blended into dry mixes, tablets, capsules, granules and powder concentrates without separation issues or loss of activity during storage. The product belongs to the Vitamins
section, which brings together raw material forms for different technological needs, from liquid solutions to dry concentrates used on industrial lines.
Global demand for powder-form panthenol is driven mainly by the pharmaceutical sector, where it appears in tablet and capsule formulations, as well as by the animal feed industry, which relies on it in premixes for livestock nutrition. Food manufacturers use it in functional food products and dietary supplement blends. In cosmetic manufacturing, the powder form is essential wherever water or liquid concentrates cannot be used: dry masks, activation powders, anhydrous serums, cosmetic face powders, dry shampoos and sachet-based products. In skin and hair care formulations, the compound is known for helping the upper skin layers retain moisture and reducing the feeling of tightness, which keeps it among the most frequently used ingredients in creams, balms and post-shave or post-depilation products.
The 1 kg pack size is suited to manufacturers operating small to medium production batches - laboratories, contract manufacturers and smaller pharmaceutical or food lines that need a reliable raw material supply without carrying excessive stock. Typical usage levels range from 0.5 to 5 percent depending on the product type: cosmetic emulsions and serums usually use 1-3 percent, while dry premixes and tablets require dosing calculated by a formulator based on the rest of the recipe. The powder should be added at the final production stage, at a temperature not exceeding 40-45 degrees Celsius, either dissolved in the water phase before emulsification or blended directly with other dry ingredients.
Panthenol pairs well with other vitamin forms, which is particularly useful when developing combined premixes and serums. It is often used alongside Vitamin D3 Powder in food and feed premixes, and in cosmetic formulations it is combined with antioxidant vitamin C forms such as Lipo-ceravit C and Ascorbyl Palmitate, allowing balanced complexes for skin and hair care to be created. The raw material should be stored in a tightly sealed container, in a dry place away from direct sunlight, avoiding any contact with moisture, which preserves its activity for the full stated shelf life.
Soothing Panthenol Recovery Balm
Distilled water 60 g
Glycerin 6 g
D-Panthenol 50P 3 g
Shea butter 12 g
Emulsifying wax 9 g
Jojoba oil 8 g
Preservative 1.5 g
Fragrance 0.5 g
Heat
the water phase with glycerin to 40 degrees Celsius, and separately melt the
oil phase with the emulsifying wax and jojoba oil to the same temperature, then
combine both phases and blend until a smooth emulsion forms. Once the mixture
cools to around 35-38 degrees, dissolve the D-Panthenol 50P powder in a small
amount of warm water and mix it in, followed by the preservative and fragrance,
stirring until fully homogeneous before transferring the balm into jars.
