Copper-gold metallic shimmer built for bulk manufacturing runs
This mica-based pigment belongs to the Metallic Mica Powder category, which brings together dry mineral pigments coated with metal oxides for a long-lasting shimmer that resists fading under light. The 1 kg package is aimed at conveyor-scale and semi-industrial manufacturing, where consistent shade matching between batches and predictable raw material planning matter most.
The strongest global demand for pigments like this comes from decorative cosmetics - eyeshadows, lip glosses, nail polish formulations - where the warm copper-gold shimmer delivers a premium metallic finish. A second major application area is industrial coatings and automotive paint, where mica pigments are dispersed into base coats and clear layers to create metallic body finishes and decorative panels. Resin art is another large segment: epoxy tabletops, jewelry casting and craft decor benefit from the deep, dimensional shimmer this pigment produces suspended inside a clear layer. Beyond that, the pigment is used in plastics manufacturing for masterbatch coloring, in printing for specialty metallic ink effects, in candle making for surface dusting, and in household chemical formulations such as decorative gels and liquid soaps.
In cosmetic bases the pigment is best introduced during the oil or gel phase blending at temperatures not exceeding 40-45 degrees Celsius to avoid damaging the mica platelets and dulling the shimmer. A usage rate of 1 to 5 percent of the total formula weight is typical, adjusted according to the desired color intensity. In epoxy systems, the pigment should be mixed into the already combined resin and hardener right before pouring, stirring thoroughly until fully dispersed without clumping. In paint and polymer production, the pigment is usually added during the dispersion stage at room temperature, followed by a homogeneity check through a mesh screen.
The pigment blends well with other dry mica pigments to build custom intermediate shades and gradient effects - a small addition of Red Pearl Pigment deepens the warm undertone, while Metallic Powder Blue allows creating cool contrasting transitions within gradient pours. For a deeper, near-black metallic finish with a gemstone-like quality, a small proportion of Metallic Powder Gothic can be blended in. In soap making this pigment is occasionally used as a surface dusting or swirl additive, though this remains a secondary rather than primary use case.
Store the pigment in a tightly sealed container, away from direct sunlight and humidity fluctuations, since the mica base is sensitive to moisture and can clump if exposed to damp conditions. Under proper storage it retains its decorative properties for several years.
Metallic gold pour soap bar swirl
Melt and pour soap base 900 g
Carrier oil of choice 20 ml
Fragrance oil 15 ml
Red gold pearlescent pigment 6 g
Melt
the soap base gently in a double boiler until fully liquid, then stir in the
carrier oil until evenly combined. Once the temperature drops to around 55-60
degrees Celsius, disperse the pigment into a small portion of the melted base
to form a smooth paste, then swirl it back into the main batch along with the
fragrance oil using a few gentle figure-eight motions. Pour the mixture into
the mold immediately, tap out air bubbles, and let it set undisturbed at room
temperature until fully hardened.
