Cationic Conditioning Complex Built for High Volume Hair Care Manufacturing
Ercaquat HRC supplied in a 50 kg package is a concentrated cationic complex that functions as the primary conditioning agent in hair care formulations and household chemical products. The main use of this raw material lies in industrial and semi industrial production of hair conditioners, masks, leave in balms and rinse off products, as well as fabric softeners and laundry conditioners within the household chemical sector. This bulk packaging suits manufacturing lines that run continuous batches and need reliable, consistent supply from lot to lot.
The primary role of a cationic complex is to neutralize static electricity on hair or textile fibers, ease detangling, and leave a smooth surface behind. Because the molecule carries a positive charge, it attaches to the negatively charged surface of hair that has been damaged by chemical treatments, coloring, or frequent washing, forming a thin protective film that leaves hair softer and more manageable. In the textile industry a similar mechanism softens fabric and reduces static buildup after washing, which is why cationic conditioning agents are common in both personal care and fabric care lines.
In hair conditioner formulations this raw material is added during phase B while building the emulsion, at a temperature around 70 to 75 degrees, after fatty phase components such as cetyl or stearyl alcohol, plant oils, and silicones have been melted together. A typical usage rate ranges from 2 to 6 percent of the finished product weight, depending on the desired conditioning strength and the viscosity target of the final emulsion. Higher concentrations suit intensive repair products for damaged hair, while lower levels work for light leave in sprays and rinse conditioners.
This ingredient pairs well with silicones, cationic polymers, plant and synthetic oils, and thickeners based on fatty alcohols. When building a formula it is worth considering compatibility with anionic surfactants, since direct mixing with strong anionic ingredients can reduce the effectiveness of the cationic charge, which is why such products are usually kept in separate phases or used in two phase systems instead of combined directly. Preservatives and fragrance are typically added at the final stage, once the emulsion has cooled to around 40 degrees, to protect active compounds and preserve scent.
Store the raw material in a tightly sealed container, in a dry, cool space away from direct sunlight and temperature swings. Under proper storage conditions the product retains its stated properties for an extended period, which matters for manufacturers buying in bulk and planning production cycles months in advance.
Bulk Batch Deep Repair Hair Conditioner
Distilled water 8500 g
Ercaquat HRC conditioner base 400 g
Cetyl alcohol 300 g
Shea butter 250 g
Volatile silicone 200 g
Preservative 50 g
Fragrance 100 g
Citric acid 200 g
Heat
the water to 75 degrees in the main mixing tank while melting the cetyl alcohol
and shea butter together in a separate vessel at the same temperature. Add the
conditioner base into the water phase under continuous mixing, then slowly pour
in the melted fatty phase while blending until a uniform emulsion forms. Cool
the batch down to 40 degrees, mix in the silicone, preservative and fragrance,
adjust the acidity with citric acid to a comfortable level for the scalp, and
continue gentle mixing until the product reaches room temperature.
