The main purpose of White Base is to deliver a dense, well shaped block with uniform whiteness achieved through titanium dioxide content. This dense structure and opacity make the base convenient both as a standalone product and as a foundation for further coloring with pigments, mica or plant based colorants. Unlike transparent glycerin bases, an opaque white base hides inclusions such as dried flowers, exfoliating particles, fillers and herbal extracts far better, which is why it is widely used in decorative cosmetics and in the production of bars with visible functional additives.

The melting point typically falls within 60 to 70 degrees Celsius, and exceeding the upper limit should be avoided to prevent breakdown of heat sensitive ingredients when fragrances, essential oils and active extracts are added. Fragrance compositions, cosmetic oils and colorants are usually introduced once the melt has cooled slightly, around 50 to 55 degrees, which reduces loss of volatile compounds and keeps the scent stable in the finished bar. Recommended dosage for fragrances is generally 1 to 3 percent of the melt weight, while cosmetic oils are added at 1 to 5 percent to avoid compromising lather and firmness.

Cut the base into small cubes and melt it in a double boiler until fully liquid, avoiding boiling and monitoring the temperature with a thermometer throughout. Once the melt reaches around 55 degrees, stir in the castor oil and sweet almond oil until fully combined, then add the activated charcoal powder gradually while stirring to prevent clumping and to keep the color evenly distributed. At around 48 to 50 degrees, add the tea tree essential oil, mix quickly and pour the mixture into molds, then leave it to set at room temperature for several hours until completely firm before unmolding.
