Why Hazelnut Oil Suits Fast-Absorbing Skin and Hair Formulas
Hazelnut oil is extracted through cold pressing of hazel kernels and is valued for its light, quickly absorbing texture along with a rich profile of oleic acid, vitamin E and trace minerals that support skin conditioning. The 50 ml bottle is a practical choice for home-based cosmetic making and small trial batches, allowing formulators to test the ingredient in a new cream or serum without committing to a large volume. This product belongs to the Liquid Basic Oils category, which brings together lightweight plant oils suited to different skin and hair types based on absorption rate and fatty acid composition.
The primary use of hazelnut oil lies in skincare formulations such as lightweight daytime creams, facial serums, massage oils, makeup removers and products for oily or combination skin, since it does not leave a heavy film and helps balance sebum production. In hair care it is blended into masks and leave-in serums to add shine without weighing down strands. Beyond cosmetics, hazelnut oil holds a notable place in the food industry as a salad dressing ingredient and a component in confectionery, and it is also used in natural perfumery as a carrier for dissolving aromatic compositions. In home practice, the oil should be added to finished emulsions during the cooling phase, at temperatures not exceeding 40 degrees Celsius, to preserve heat-sensitive active compounds.
A recommended dosage in cosmetic recipes ranges from 5 to 20 percent of the total product mass, depending on the desired texture and purpose of the formula. Hazelnut oil pairs particularly well with other nut oils, amplifying the nourishing and antioxidant effect: a good match is Walnut Oil 50 ml for small test batches, or Walnut Oil 100 ml when scaling the recipe toward medium production volumes. Another interesting combination comes from Avellana Nut Oil 25 ml, since both products belong to the hazel family and offer a similarly light yet complementary effect in skincare blends. Hazelnut oil should be stored in a tightly sealed container, in a cool dark place away from direct sunlight and heat sources, which helps prevent oxidation and extends the usable shelf life of the product.
