Benzyl benzoate is valued worldwide mainly for two properties working together: it dissolves dense, poorly soluble aromatic materials, and it slows down the evaporation of volatile fragrance notes. That combination is exactly why the strongest global demand for this raw material comes from the fragrance and cosmetic manufacturing sector, where expensive essential oils and synthetic aroma compounds tend to fade within hours without a proper fixative. The product belongs to the solvents and humectants category, which reflects its second major role as a working solvent for resins, dyes and concentrated aromatic blends that are otherwise difficult to disperse evenly in a formula.

Beyond fragrance work, benzyl benzoate is widely used in household chemical production, particularly in insect repellent sprays and aerosols, where it dissolves active ingredients and helps the protective effect stay on surfaces longer. In industrial applications it functions as a plasticizer for cellulose-based polymers and as a solvent for nitrocellulose lacquers and certain synthetic resins, making it relevant sourcing material not only for cosmetic labs but also for coatings and lacquer manufacturers. In skincare formulations it is added to creams, balms and body sprays in small amounts, so a fragrance blend stays noticeable on skin longer instead of disappearing within the first half hour after application.

When building a formula, benzyl benzoate is usually introduced at the final stage, once the base has cooled to around 40-50 degrees Celsius, or simply blended with other liquid ingredients at room temperature - the material does not require heat and combines well with essential and cosmetic oils, fragrance oils, alcohol bases and waxes. Typical working dosage in fragrance compositions ranges from 1 to 5 percent, though technical formulations may use higher amounts, and any exact concentration should always be confirmed with a small test batch before scaling up production. Store it in a tightly sealed container, in a cool place away from open flame and direct sunlight, since it is a combustible liquid.

Fragrance oil 6 g

Melt the beeswax in a double boiler, add jojoba and almond oil, and stir until fully combined, then remove from heat. Once the mixture cools to about 45 degrees Celsius, add the benzyl benzoate and fragrance oil, mix quickly, and pour into small tins or containers where the balm sets at room temperature within a few hours.
