Algisium C2 for Skin Firmness, Elasticity and Intensive Cosmetic Care
Algisium C2 is a high-performance cosmetic ingredient developed for formulations designed to improve the appearance of skin firmness, elasticity, and overall skin quality. The active is widely incorporated into modern facial skincare, body care, professional spa products, and premium cosmetic formulations where long-lasting skin conditioning and structural support are desired.
Within the Mylo Opt catalog, Algisium C2 is best suited to the Skin Firmness and Elasticity category, as its primary application focuses on cosmetic products intended to support firmer-looking, smoother, and healthier-looking skin.
According to the INCI designation, Algisium C2 contains Methylsilanol Mannuronate, an organic silicon derivative combined with mannuronic acid obtained from brown algae polysaccharides. This combination provides excellent compatibility with water-based cosmetic systems while allowing formulators to develop sophisticated skincare products with elegant textures and high ingredient stability.
Cosmetic Applications of Algisium C2
Algisium C2 is extensively used in facial serums, anti-aging creams, firming emulsions, gel concentrates, facial masks, neck treatments, eye care products, and cosmetic boosters. The ingredient is particularly valued in formulations created for skin that appears less firm, less elastic, or exposed to environmental stress.
Body care products also represent a significant application area. Algisium C2 is incorporated into firming body lotions, sculpting creams, contouring gels, spa wraps, massage formulations, bust care products, and cosmetic treatments designed for skin affected by weight fluctuations or reduced elasticity.
The ingredient can also be included in premium hair care products, especially leave-in conditioners, scalp treatments, strengthening masks, and moisturizing hair formulations where additional conditioning ingredients are required. Although this is a secondary application, it demonstrates the versatility of the active in modern cosmetic development.
Compatibility with Modern Cosmetic Ingredients
Algisium C2 blends well with hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, peptides, amino acids, collagen, marine collagen, elastin, ceramides, panthenol, squalane, botanical extracts, polysaccharides, vitamins, antioxidants, glycerin, betaine, sodium lactate, marine extracts, and moisturizing complexes.
For body care products, formulators frequently combine Algisium C2 with caffeine, Centella asiatica extract, horse chestnut extract, ivy extract, green tea extract, algae extracts, and various botanical actives to create multifunctional cosmetic products suitable for professional and retail markets.
As with any advanced formulation, compatibility testing with thickeners, electrolytes, acids, preservatives, and emulsifying systems is recommended to achieve optimal product stability.
Recommended Usage Level
The typical recommended concentration for Algisium C2 ranges from 3-6%.
Daily facial serums, lightweight emulsions, and hydrating fluids commonly contain 3-4%.
Professional cosmetic treatments, concentrated firming products, and intensive body formulations may use levels up to 6%, depending on formulation requirements and supplier recommendations.
Formulation Guidelines
Algisium C2 is generally incorporated into the water phase or added during the cooling stage of emulsion manufacturing at temperatures below 40°C. Transparent gels benefit from adding the ingredient after complete hydration of the thickening system.
Moderate mixing is recommended to ensure uniform distribution while minimizing air incorporation. Every finished formulation should be evaluated for appearance, viscosity, pH stability, preservative compatibility, and long-term storage performance.
Storage Conditions
Store Algisium C2 in the original tightly sealed container in a cool, dry environment protected from direct sunlight, excessive heat, and freezing temperatures. Clean, dry equipment should always be used during handling to preserve product quality.
Firming Neck and Décolleté Gel Formula
Purified Water - 83.7 g
Green Tea Hydrosol - 5 g
Glycerin - 3 g
Algisium C2 - 4 g
D-Panthenol - 1.5 g
Betaine - 1 g
Hyaluronic Acid - 0.2 g
Xanthan Gum - 0.3 g
Preservative - 0.8 g
Sodium Lactate - 0.5 g
Preparation Method
Premix glycerin with xanthan gum until a smooth slurry is obtained. Prepare the purified water together with the green tea hydrosol and slowly disperse the xanthan mixture under continuous stirring. Allow sufficient time for complete gum hydration.
Separately dissolve betaine and D-panthenol before incorporating them into the hydrated gel. Add pre-hydrated hyaluronic acid and continue mixing until the formulation becomes uniform.
When the batch temperature drops below 40°C, incorporate Algisium C2, sodium lactate, and the preservative. Mix thoroughly, adjust the pH if required, and allow the finished gel to stand until trapped air bubbles disappear. Fill into clean cosmetic containers and perform stability, packaging compatibility, and preservative efficacy testing before commercial production.
