Algisium C2 - Organic Silicon Active for Skin Firmness and Elasticity
Algisium C2 is an advanced cosmetic active based on organic silicon, developed for skincare formulations designed to improve skin firmness, elasticity, and visible skin density. The ingredient is widely used in professional skincare, premium cosmetics, and cosmeceutical formulations for facial and body care. Within the Mylo Opt product range, Algisium C2 belongs to the Skin Firmness and Elasticity category.
According to the INCI designation, Algisium C2 consists of Methylsilanol Mannuronate, a bioavailable organic silicon derivative combined with mannuronic acid obtained from brown seaweed polysaccharides. This unique structure provides excellent compatibility with aqueous and emulsion-based cosmetic systems while allowing easy incorporation into formulations containing moisturizing, firming, and age-supporting ingredients.
Algisium C2 is commonly selected for formulations intended for skin showing visible signs of reduced firmness and elasticity. The ingredient helps formulators develop cosmetic products designed to promote a smoother appearance, improve the feeling of skin resilience, and support a firmer-looking complexion. It is suitable for both daily skincare and professional cosmetic treatments.
Algisium C2 in Facial Skincare
For facial care, Algisium C2 is widely incorporated into firming serums, lifting creams, concentrated boosters, gel treatments, facial masks, neck creams, and décolleté care products. The ingredient is particularly valued in premium formulations developed to enhance the appearance of skin firmness and support well-defined facial contours.
It is suitable for day creams, night creams, lightweight emulsions, facial serums, eye care products, and intensive cosmetic treatment programs. Thanks to its excellent compatibility with water-based systems, Algisium C2 is ideal for elegant textures that absorb quickly without leaving a heavy skin feel.
Algisium C2 in Body Care Products
In body care, Algisium C2 is frequently used in firming body creams, contouring gels, anti-cellulite products, bust care formulations, abdominal treatments, thigh care products, and cosmetic formulations designed to improve the appearance of skin after weight reduction. The ingredient is also widely incorporated into professional SPA treatments, body wraps, and massage products.
Algisium C2 combines well with caffeine, marine extracts, Centella asiatica extract, peptides, botanical extracts, and modern moisturizing complexes, allowing formulators to create multifunctional body care products with premium performance.
Compatibility with Other Cosmetic Ingredients
Algisium C2 demonstrates excellent compatibility with hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, collagen, marine collagen, elastin, peptides, amino acids, ceramides, panthenol, squalane, vitamins, antioxidants, botanical extracts, marine polysaccharides, coenzyme Q10, and numerous modern cosmetic actives.
When developing formulations, compatibility between all ingredients, the recommended pH range, and manufacturing conditions should always be evaluated. Stability testing is recommended to confirm viscosity, appearance, odor, and long-term product performance.
Formulation Recommendations
Algisium C2 is typically incorporated into the water phase or added during the final stage of manufacturing after the emulsion has cooled. The recommended processing temperature is generally below 40°C to preserve the functionality of the ingredient.
For transparent gels and serums, Algisium C2 is usually added after complete hydration of the thickening system. In emulsions, it is introduced after combining and cooling the oil and water phases. The exact processing conditions should be optimized according to the complete formulation and supplier recommendations.
Recommended Use Level
The typical recommended use level for Algisium C2 is 2-5%.
For lightweight serums and daily facial creams, concentrations of 2-3% are commonly used.
For concentrated firming treatments and professional cosmetic formulations, levels up to 5% may be applied following compatibility and stability testing.
Storage
Store Algisium C2 in its original tightly sealed container in a cool, dry location protected from direct sunlight, excessive heat, and freezing conditions. Always use clean, dry equipment when handling the raw material to maintain product quality.
Firming Serum Formula with Algisium C2
Purified Water - 85.4%
Glycerin - 4%
Niacinamide - 4%
Algisium C2 - 3%
D-Panthenol - 2%
Xanthan Gum - 0.3%
Preservative - 0.8%

Preparation Method
Premix glycerin with xanthan gum until a smooth dispersion is obtained. Separately prepare the purified water and slowly add the glycerin mixture under continuous stirring. Allow the xanthan gum to hydrate completely.
Once the gel base is fully developed, dissolve niacinamide and D-panthenol. Ensure the temperature is below 40°C before adding Algisium C2. Mix thoroughly until the formulation becomes completely homogeneous. Add the preservative and adjust the pH to 5.2-5.8 using lactic acid or citric acid solution.
Allow the finished serum to stand until trapped air bubbles disappear before filling into clean airtight cosmetic containers. Prior to commercial manufacturing, stability testing, packaging compatibility evaluation, and preservative efficacy testing are recommended.
