Building a Body Wash Formula Around an Organic Cleansing Base
Body Wash Organic Base is a ready-made platform for creating shower gels and liquid soaps without having to source and balance dozens of raw ingredients from scratch. It belongs to the broad category of Surfactants, which brings together cleansing and foaming agents used across household chemistry, personal care, and body cosmetics. The 100 ml size is aimed mainly at home formulators and small trial batches, letting you test texture, foam quality, and fragrance compatibility before scaling up to larger production runs.
The most common use of this base is in shower gels, liquid soaps, intimate hygiene products, and gentle body washes for children. The base already contains a balanced blend of cleansing agents, so its main role is to act as a neutral carrier for active ingredients such as oils, botanical extracts, essential oils, preservatives, and thickeners. Thanks to its organic-derived components, the finished product tends to feel gentle on skin and avoids excessive dryness, making it suitable for formulas marketed as mild or low-irritation.
When working with this base, it is important to respect the temperature window: active additives, essential oils, and plant extracts should be introduced at temperatures below 40 degrees Celsius to preserve their properties and prevent separation of the finished product. For a thicker foam or added conditioning benefits, the base pairs well with mild co-surfactants such as Olive Carboxylate, which boosts gentle cleansing while reducing the irritation potential of the overall formula. For a creamier, more stable foam, Sodium Babassuamphoacetate is another popular choice, frequently used in baby and sensitive-skin formulations.
Dosage of supporting surfactants typically ranges from 3 to 10 grams per 100 grams of finished product, depending on the desired foam density and cleansing softness. To improve the conditioning feel of a recipe, a small amount of Amino Surfactant can be added, softening the formula and making it more comfortable for frequent use on sensitive skin.
Store the base in a tightly sealed container, in a dry area at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Once opened, use the contents within a reasonable time and avoid letting water enter the container to prevent microbial growth.
Gentle Citrus Body Wash
Body Wash Organic Base 68 g
Olive Carboxylate 10 g
Sodium Babassuamphoacetate 9 g
Glycerin 5 g
Sweet orange essential oil 1 g
Preservative 1 g
Distilled water 6 g
Combine the base with glycerin in a clean container and warm the mixture over a water bath to about 35-38 degrees Celsius. Gradually add Olive Carboxylate and Sodium Babassuamphoacetate, stirring gently to keep the mixture smooth and avoid trapping air bubbles. Remove from heat, let cool to around 30 degrees, then stir in the preservative and sweet orange essential oil. If needed, adjust thickness with a little distilled water, mix thoroughly, and let the batch rest for 24 hours before bottling to allow the texture to stabilize.
