A precision antimicrobial agent for formulation testing
Triclosan is a chlorinated compound valued for its strong antimicrobial performance, used for decades across personal care, household and textile manufacturing worldwide. The 10 g pack is aimed at laboratory trials and formulation development, letting small workshops test active concentration before scaling up a batch. Within the store catalog the ingredient belongs to the Biocides section, which groups substances designed to control bacterial, fungal and mold growth in finished formulas.
The strongest global demand for triclosan comes from personal hygiene manufacturers producing toothpaste, deodorants, antibacterial hand gels and liquid soap. The compound also plays a major role in textile processing, where it is applied to sportswear, socks, bedding and shoe insoles to reduce odor-causing bacteria. In household chemistry, triclosan appears in surface cleaning sprays, cutting board treatments and plastic ware formulations that require lasting antimicrobial protection of the material surface.
A typical recommended dosage ranges from 0.1 to 0.3 percent of total formula weight. The ingredient is best introduced during the cooling phase of an emulsion or gel, once the mixture drops below 60 degrees, which prevents the active compound from breaking down under heat. Triclosan dissolves readily in alcohols, glycols and alkaline solutions, making it convenient for liquid cleaning formulas as well as for textile impregnation methods.
Within combined recipes triclosan pairs well with amino acid additives such as Methionine, which acts as a conditioning and antioxidant component and helps soften formulas carrying higher concentrations of active ingredients. In solid cosmetic manufacturing triclosan is also blended into ready soap bases to reinforce antibacterial performance, an approach commonly seen with White drops, ShK Mir or Shards pink, ShK Mir, particularly useful for bars intended for medical facilities, food service areas and public washrooms.
Store the ingredient in a dry, dark place inside a tightly sealed container, away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Under proper storage conditions the compound retains its activity for several years, allowing the small pack to be used gradually across multiple trial batches without losing effectiveness.
Trial batch surface disinfectant spray
Triclosan 0.25 g
Isopropyl alcohol 45 ml
Distilled water 50 ml
Glycerin 3 ml
Fragrance 0.5 ml
Dissolve
the triclosan fully in isopropyl alcohol, stirring until no particles remain,
then blend in the glycerin followed by the distilled water added gradually
while mixing continuously. Add the fragrance last once the mixture reaches room
temperature, pour the finished solution into a spray bottle and shake gently
before each use on hard surfaces or fabric.
