Ultramarine Pigment mineral colorant for cosmetic formulations and industrial systems
Ultramarine Pigment is an inorganic mineral colorant widely used across industries due to its color stability and resistance to environmental factors. It provides deep blue tones and is also used in color correction systems. This raw material is applied in decorative cosmetics, personal care products, soap making, candle production, coatings, plastics and industrial formulation systems where consistent color performance is required.
From a formulation perspective, ultramarine is an insoluble pigment that functions as a dispersed phase within the product. It does not influence viscosity or structural properties but defines the color aspect of the formulation. The particles exhibit strong lightfastness and thermal stability, making them suitable for a wide range of manufacturing processes.
In cosmetic applications, Ultramarine Pigment is used in decorative products, creams, gels, soaps and hair care formulations. In personal care systems, it is used to create color effects and visual balance. In soap and candle production, it is used for mass coloration and surface decoration. In industrial applications, it is used in paints, plastics, printing materials and coatings where stable coloration is required.
Functionally, the pigment disperses within the base when properly processed and provides a stable color without reacting chemically with the formulation. In low-viscosity systems, stabilization may be required to prevent particle settling.
In formulation practice, ultramarine is introduced during the dispersion stage or at the final mixing phase. It is compatible with oils, waxes, silicones, polymers, resins and gel systems. Pre-dispersion in a portion of the base or high-shear mixing improves uniform distribution.
Usage level is defined by pigment specifications and adjusted depending on the desired color intensity.
Example formulation: Decorative cream with ultramarine tone
Purified water 65 ml
Emulsifier 5 g
Jojoba oil 10 g
Shea butter 8 g
Ultramarine Pigment 3 g
Panthenol 3 g
Preservative 1 g
pH adjuster 5 g
Process: the oil phase (oils and emulsifier) is heated until melted. The water phase is heated separately. The phases are combined with mixing to form an emulsion. The pigment is pre-dispersed and incorporated into the system. After cooling, panthenol and preservative are added. The formulation is mixed until uniform.
Example formulation: Gel system with mineral pigment
Purified water 70 ml
Carbomer 0.8 g
Propanediol 5 g
Ultramarine Pigment 3 g
Chamomile extract 10 ml
Preservative 1 g
Neutralizer 10 g
Process: carbomer is dispersed in water and allowed to hydrate. Propanediol is added and the system is neutralized to form a gel. The pigment is pre-dispersed in part of the gel and incorporated into the system. Chamomile extract and preservative are added. The formulation is mixed until homogeneous.
Ultramarine Pigment is used in formulations where stable color, compatibility and performance across multiple systems are required. It provides uniform dispersion, consistent tone and reliability in cosmetic, decorative and industrial applications.
