Paraffin Wax P-2 in a 500 gram pack is a classic petroleum-derived wax with a firm structure that remains highly demanded not only in candle making but also in food packaging, woodworking, cosmetology and household chemistry. This is why it belongs to the section of candle making raw materials, gathering components for pouring, decorating and adjusting density and melting point of finished candles. The compact pack size is convenient for hobby makers and for testing a formula before ordering a larger batch.

The primary use of paraffin P-2 is candle production: pillar candles, tealights, decorative pieces poured into jars or molds. The melting point typically sits around 52-54 degrees, while pouring temperature reaches 70-80 degrees so the melt spreads evenly through the mold and avoids air pockets on cooling. To increase hardness and reduce shrinkage, stearin is commonly blended in at 10 to 20 percent of total weight, and small amounts of mineral oil are sometimes added to soften the texture, a technique borrowed from paraffin hand and foot treatments used in beauty studios and at home.

Beyond candles, paraffin wax is applied for moisture-proofing wood and cardboard, sealing cheese wheels and other food products, formulating lubricant blends, and serving as a base for warm paraffin skin treatments in cosmetology. In household chemistry it appears as an ingredient in furniture polish and protective coatings. For layered decorative projects, plain paraffin pairs well with ready-made granulated blends such as the Pearl Gold Granulated Candle Base or the Blue Pearl Granulated Candle Base, allowing multi-textured candles without special equipment.

Fragrance oils and dyes should be added once the wax is melted but not overheated, generally around 60-65 degrees, which preserves scent and keeps pigments stable. Fragrance load is usually 3 to 6 percent of wax weight, while dye amount depends on the depth of color desired, starting from very small quantities. Store the wax in a dry, cool place away from direct sunlight and heat sources, sealed to prevent it from absorbing outside odors.

Melt the paraffin with stearin over a water bath until it reaches 75 degrees, then cool the mixture down to 60 degrees before stirring in the fragrance oil, mineral oil and dye until fully blended. Secure the wick at the center of a heat-resistant jar, pour the melt slowly to avoid trapped air, and let the candle set undisturbed at room temperature for about 24 hours, topping up with a second thin pour if a shrinkage well appears near the wick.
