Recipe: Luxurious Lilac Cold Process Soap
Create a beautiful and fragrant cold process soap with our Lilac Dream fragrance oil. This recipe is designed for beginners and seasoned soap makers alike, highlighting the stability of the fragrance.
Ingredients:
Instructions: First, prepare your lye solution.
Carefully and slowly add the sodium hydroxide to the cold distilled water, stirring until it is completely dissolved. The solution will become very hot. Set it aside in a safe, well-ventilated area to cool to around 45°C.
Second, melt and prepare the oils.
In a separate large pot, melt the coconut oil and palm oil. Once melted, add the olive oil. Stir the oils until they are fully combined and reach a temperature of around 45°C.
Third, combine the phases.
Once both the lye solution and the oils are around 45°C, slowly pour the lye solution into the oils. Using an immersion blender, blend the mixture in short bursts until it reaches a "trace" state. This is when the soap batter thickens and leaves a visible trail when drizzled on the surface.
Fourth, add the fragrance.
When the mixture has reached a light trace, add the Fragrance Oil Lilac Dream. Stir it in thoroughly by hand or with a quick, short burst of the immersion blender. Its stability allows for plenty of time to work with the batter before it hardens.
Fifth, pour and insulate the soap.
Pour the soap batter into your prepared mold. Cover the mold with a towel or blanket to insulate it, which helps the saponification process. Let the soap sit for 24-48 hours. After this time, you can unmold and cut the soap into bars. The soap will then need to cure for 4-6 weeks in a cool, dry place to harden and become mild.
