Soap base Melta clear 1 kg

Why Melta Clear Soap Base Suits Small Studios and Home Crafters Alike

Melta clear soap base supplied in a 1 kg pack belongs to the category of Melt and Pour Soap Bases, a material long favored by hobbyists, artisan makers and small production studios for melt and pour soap making. Its transparent texture allows crafters to showcase embedded decorative elements, layered designs and colorful inclusions, making finished bars visually appealing for gifts, wedding favors and boutique retail. The one kilogram format is practical for testing new formulas, trying out fragrance combinations and coloring techniques before scaling up to larger batches, and it also suits crafters producing limited runs for markets or small online shops.

The primary real world use of this base is handcrafted soap production through melting and pouring into molds, a technique widely practiced across home workshops, craft schools and small commercial studios. Because the base is transparent, it is often chosen for bars featuring dried flowers, glitter, loofah pieces, coffee beans or other visible inclusions that would be hidden in an opaque base. Beyond personal crafting, transparent bases are used in gift sets for hotels, spa centers and beauty salons, where the finished appearance of the soap matters as much as its function.

Working with the base typically involves cutting it into cubes and melting it gently in a double boiler or microwave in short bursts, avoiding boiling, usually reaching a temperature around 60-70 degrees Celsius. This is the stage at which fragrance oils, essential oils, cosmetic oils, colorants and active additives are introduced. Fragrance or essential oils are commonly used at a rate of about 3-5 ml per 100 g of base, while cosmetic oils are added at roughly 5-10 g per the same amount, keeping transparency intact and preserving good lather. Colorants should be added drop by drop, gradually building up to the desired shade. Overheating the base can break down volatile fragrance components and dull the finished bar, so moderate and controlled heating is recommended throughout the process.

Melta clear pairs well with vegetable oils, glycerin, herbal extracts, natural essential oils and gentle exfoliating particles such as ground coffee or oat flour. These additives should be used in modest amounts to maintain clarity and avoid compromising lather quality. Combining transparent and white bases in a single mold creates striking layered effects that are particularly popular in gift sets and collectible soap lines.

The base should be stored in a dry, cool place away from direct sunlight and strong odors, since it can absorb ambient scents over time. Keeping the packaging tightly sealed prevents moisture ingress, which could otherwise lead to condensation droplets forming on the surface of finished bars later on. When stored properly, the base retains its working properties for an extended period, making the one kilogram pack a convenient choice both for a single project and for ongoing small scale soap making.

Citrus and Poppy Seed Soap

Melta clear soap base 500 g

Sweet almond oil 10 g

Orange essential oil 12 ml

Poppy seeds 8 g

Yellow liquid colorant 3 ml

Cut the base into cubes and melt it over a double boiler until fully liquid, avoiding boiling. Stir in the almond oil until evenly blended, then add the orange essential oil and colorant, mixing until the shade is uniform throughout the mixture. Sprinkle in the poppy seeds and stir quickly so they distribute evenly rather than settling at the bottom. Pour the mixture into molds, spray lightly with rubbing alcohol to remove surface bubbles, and let the bars set at room temperature for several hours until fully hardened.
