O.D.A. White Octadecenedioic Acid as a functional sebum-regulating and tone-balancing ingredient for advanced formulation systems
O.D.A. White (INCI: Octadecenedioic Acid) is a specialized functional ingredient based on dioic acid chemistry, designed for modern formulation systems targeting sebum balance and improved visual skin tone uniformity. It is also known globally as octadecenedioic acid, dioic acid derivative and sebum control active. This ingredient is not a structural additive but a performance-oriented active integrated into formulations with a defined purpose.
In B2B environments it is valued for its predictable behavior, compatibility and scalability. It integrates into emulsions, gels and serums without requiring major formulation changes, making it suitable for contract manufacturing and industrial production.
Properties and functional role
Octadecenedioic Acid functions as an active component influencing sebum-related processes and visual uniformity. It does not act as a thickener or emulsifier but is incorporated as a functional ingredient within the formulation.
It is compatible with emulsions, glycols and most cosmetic actives. It should be added during the cooling phase to maintain stability.
Properties and result
Provides improved skin tone uniformity and reduced surface shine. The formulation remains stable and visually consistent.
Does not affect color or fragrance and maintains base integrity.
Purpose
Used in creams, serums, gels and formulations designed for oily and combination skin. Suitable for multi-active systems and modern skincare lines.
Application
Suitable for emulsions and water-based systems. Compatible with niacinamide, panthenol and botanical extracts.
Added below 40°C with controlled pH.
