Why formulators turn to plant-based emollients instead of silicones
Natura Tec Plantsoft L is a modern plant-derived emollient created to replace silicone compounds in cosmetic formulations. It gives the finished product that silky glide and light, weightless feel on the skin that silicones are usually known for, while being fully based on renewable plant sources. This ingredient belongs to the category of emollients for cosmetics, which brings together substances responsible for skin softening, product spreadability and the final sensory profile of a cream or serum. The 20 g pack size is well suited for home formulation and small trial batches when a formulator wants to test a new recipe before scaling it up to larger production.
The main field of use for this emollient is skincare for face and body where a light, non-greasy texture matters: day and night creams, lotions, serums, hand creams, and after-sun products. It is frequently chosen in formulations marketed as silicone-free, since it delivers a comparable sensory result without relying on dimethicone or similar compounds. Beyond skincare, plant-based emollients of this type are also used in color cosmetics such as foundations, BB creams and concealers, where an even glide of pigments is needed without a filmy feel on the skin. In addition, similar emollients are occasionally used in household chemical formulations to give softening properties to industrial-grade hand creams, and in select niches of fragrance-carrying cosmetic products as a light carrier base.
Natura Tec Plantsoft L pairs well with other emollients and softening oils, allowing formulators to fine-tune the final texture. Combined with Lanol 99 it produces a richer, more nourishing base while keeping a light finish, while adding Capric Triglyceride helps thin out the texture and improves emulsion stability across a range of storage temperatures. It also works well alongside Myristyl Lactate, which adds a matte, velvety effect to the final texture and is often used in formulas for oily and combination skin.
It is recommended to add Natura Tec Plantsoft L to the oil phase of an emulsion during preparation, at a temperature of around 70-80 degrees Celsius, together with other oils and emollients before combining with the water phase. Typical dosage ranges from 2 to 8 percent of the total formula weight depending on the desired texture and product purpose. The ingredient is stable at the stated temperature range and tolerates standard homogenizing conditions well. It should be stored in a dry, cool place away from direct sunlight, in a tightly closed container, avoiding sudden temperature changes and moisture entering the packaging.
When building formulas with this emollient, it is worth keeping in mind its good compatibility with most plant oils, waxes and thickeners, which makes it a convenient tool for cosmetic formulators and small home labs experimenting with light, silicone-free textures.

Distilled water 68 g
Glycerin 4 g
Natura Tec Plantsoft L 3 g
Capric Triglyceride 5 g
Lanol 99 3 g
Plant-based emulsifier 4 g
Preservative 1 g

Heat
the water phase with glycerin in a water bath to 75 degrees Celsius, while
separately heating the oil phase containing the emulsifier, Plantsoft L, Capric
Triglyceride and Lanol 99 to the same temperature. Pour the oil phase into the
water phase in a thin stream while stirring continuously, homogenize for a few
minutes until smooth, then cool the mixture while stirring down to 40 degrees
before adding the preservative and fragrance, mix for another few minutes and
transfer the finished cream into containers.
