Crystal Suspending Soap Base belongs to the range grouped under Stephenson Soap Base, and it solves a very specific technical problem familiar to anyone working with clear formulations: a standard clear base simply cannot hold heavy or bulky inclusions in place, so coffee grounds, oatmeal flakes, loofah pieces, mica, glitter or dried herbs sink before the mixture sets. Thanks to a special thickening structure, this suspending base keeps such inclusions evenly distributed through the whole volume, so the cross-section of the finished bar looks uniform rather than layered with everything settled at the bottom.

The main real-world use of this base is in decorative and scrub bars with visible inclusions, multi-colored swirl bars, and display samples where the cut surface pattern matters for presentation. On an industrial scale, suspending bases like this one are used well beyond soap making, including in solid shampoo bars, body butter bars and dense gel-type blocks where abrasive particles or encapsulated additives need to stay suspended without the batch separating. The 1 kg size is convenient for studio-scale production runs and for testing particle percentages, pouring temperature and set time before scaling a formula to larger batches.

This base blends well with other products in the same line. For a softer, creamier cut texture it is often combined with Creamy Soap Base Crystal OPC 1 kg, while for gentle exfoliating bars with a natural feel producers add a portion of Crystal OS soap base - Oatmeal Shea, 1 kg, creating a transition from a clear layer to a matte oat-flecked one. Melt the base gently in a double boiler or microwave using short bursts, bringing it to around 65-70 degrees Celsius and avoiding prolonged boiling, since overheating breaks down the suspending structure and inclusions will start sinking again. Particles and additives should be stirred in around 55-60 degrees, with solid inclusions typically making up 1 to 8 percent of the base weight, fragrance oils around 2-3 percent, and carrier oils for softness up to 5 percent. Pour into the mold soon after mixing in additives, stirring gently so the particles stay evenly spread. Store the base in an airtight container, in a dry place away from direct sunlight and heat sources to keep its suspending properties intact.

Melt the base gently in a double boiler until fully liquid, then melt the shea butter separately and stir it into the base once both are around 60 degrees. Add fragrance oil and colorant, mix thoroughly, then lower the temperature slightly to around 55 degrees before slowly folding in the glitter to avoid clumping. Pour the mixture into the mold immediately, tapping gently to release air bubbles, and let it set at room temperature for several hours until fully firm before unmolding.
