Melting temperature typically falls within 60-70 degrees Celsius, and a water bath or a dedicated melter with temperature control is recommended for an even melt. Active additives such as essential oils, fragrance oils, plant extracts, and acid exfoliants should be introduced once the melt cools to around 50-55 degrees, preventing degradation of volatile components and preserving scent. Fragrance oils are commonly used at a dosage of 1 to 3 percent of the melt weight, while colorants are added drop by drop until the desired intensity is reached.

Layered Honey Oat Bar

Ground oats 20 g

Cut the base into cubes and melt over a water bath at around 65 degrees until smooth, then remove from heat and let it cool to 55 degrees. Split the melt into two portions: mix ground oats and half of the fragrance oil into one, and blend the mica and remaining oil with sweet almond oil into the other. Pour the layers into the mold one at a time, allowing each to firm up slightly before adding the next, then unmold the finished bar once it has cooled completely at room temperature.
