Amazonian Nut Oil Rich in Behenic Acid for Skin and Hair Formulations
Prakaxi oil is cold pressed from the seeds of Pentaclethra macroloba, a tree native to the tropical rainforests of the Amazon basin. Long used by local communities for skin care, this oil has gradually gained recognition in the global personal care industry thanks to its notable content of behenic and oleic acids, which give it strong nourishing and conditioning properties. This product belongs to the Liquid Basic Oils category, home to a wide range of carrier oils for professional and home formulation, and the 1 liter size is well suited for studio-scale and small industrial production runs where a dependable supply of raw material matters.
One of the most common applications of Prakaxi oil is in hair care formulations, where it helps reinforce hair structure and reduce breakage when used regularly in masks and conditioning treatments. It is also widely incorporated into creams, lotions and serums for body and face, particularly products aimed at dry or dehydrated skin, since the oil forms a light film on the surface that slows moisture loss. In lip balm and stick product manufacturing, Prakaxi oil is often chosen as a lighter alternative to heavier butters thanks to its good spreadability and fast absorption.
In formulation, Prakaxi oil blends well with other carrier oils: combining it with Liquid Shea Butter enhances the emollient effect, while pairing it with Hemp Oil, rich in polyunsaturated fatty acids, gives a more balanced fatty acid profile overall. For products focused on skin regeneration, formulators frequently add Avocado Oil, which further enriches the formula with vitamins and phytosterols.
Prakaxi oil should be introduced during the oil phase mixing stage at a temperature not exceeding 60-70 degrees Celsius to prevent oxidation of heat-sensitive compounds. Typical usage rates in finished products range from 5 to 20 percent of the total oil phase depending on the product type - lighter emulsions require a smaller share, while intensive nourishing products can use a higher concentration. The oil also finds use in premium candle manufacturing as a component contributing to more even burning, and in select natural home care formulations as a conditioning additive.
Store Prakaxi oil in a tightly sealed container away from direct sunlight, at room temperature or in a cool place without sudden temperature fluctuations. Once opened, use the product within the period recommended by the manufacturer and avoid contact with moisture or foreign particles that could accelerate oxidation.
