Product Description
Sunflower Lecithin phospholipid emulsifying ingredient for cosmetic and functional formulations
Sunflower Lecithin is a natural phospholipid complex obtained from sunflower seeds through extraction and purification. The ingredient contains phosphatidylcholine, phosphatidylethanolamine and other plant derived phospholipids. The appearance may vary from viscous amber liquid to soft granules or light yellow powder depending on the processing method.
The phospholipid structure provides amphiphilic properties allowing the ingredient to interact with both aqueous and lipid phases. Because of this property sunflower lecithin is widely used as a natural emulsifying and structuring component in cosmetic formulations. The ingredient disperses well in oils and can form lamellar structures within emulsions.
Properties and skin performance
In cosmetic systems sunflower lecithin contributes to smooth cream texture and uniform distribution of lipids. Formulations containing this ingredient develop balanced sensory characteristics and soft spreading properties during application.
Industry applications
Sunflower lecithin is used in creams, emulsions, masks and serums designed for skin care formulations. It is applied in products for dry and sensitive skin as well as in hair care formulations. The ingredient is also widely used in SPA cosmetic systems and nourishing formulations.
In addition to cosmetic applications sunflower lecithin is widely used in the food industry as an emulsifier and stabilizer in chocolate products, sauces and functional food formulations. Its natural origin and technological stability make it suitable for private label development and contract manufacturing.
Formula example phospholipid lamellar cream
Sunflower lecithin 10 g
Jojoba oil 40 ml
Sweet almond oil 35 ml
Caprylic triglycerides 45 ml
Cetearyl alcohol 20 g
Glycerin 45 g
Purified water 800 ml
Preservative system 2 g
The oil phase is prepared by combining the oils, caprylic triglycerides and cetearyl alcohol and heating until a homogeneous mixture forms. Sunflower lecithin is incorporated into the lipid phase and mixed until evenly distributed. In a separate vessel purified water and glycerin are blended to prepare the aqueous phase. The oil and water phases are combined under intensive mixing to form a stable emulsion. After cooling the preservative system is added while mixing continues until uniform. The pH is adjusted to a balanced level suitable for emulsion stability. The final formulation is a lamellar cream with smooth texture.
Sunflower lecithin is widely used by B2B cosmetic manufacturers developing phospholipid based formulations. The ingredient provides formulation stability, compatibility with industrial processing and reproducible performance in scalable production.
