Deep agate black tone for resin, candles and skin care formulas
Black Agate liquid pigment in a compact 10 ml bottle is designed for those testing a new shade or trialing a formula before committing to larger scale production. This concentrated colorant belongs to the Pigment Liquid ULTRA Dyes line, and its main strength is even dispersion in liquid and semi-liquid bases without streaking or blotching, even with minimal mixing. This is exactly why such pigments are favored by artists working with epoxy resin for jewelry, decorative panels and stone-imitation art, as well as candle makers who need a deep, saturated tone without sacrificing wax clarity.
The main application of this pigment goes far beyond decorative art. Black Agate is widely used in household chemical production - tinting laundry gels, dishwashing liquids, car shampoos and industrially bottled liquid soap. The pigment holds up well across both alkaline and acidic environments, making it suitable for formulas with a broad pH range. In skin and hair care it tints shampoos, conditioners and masks for dark hair, as well as decorative gels and lacquers. The compact 10 ml format is ideal for home-based formulation and small trial batches - it lets you test the shade in a limited volume before ordering a liter-sized container for regular production runs.
The pigment should be introduced once the base has cooled to room temperature or reached a warm but not hot state - typically between 25 and 45 degrees Celsius, depending on the product type. For resin work, the colorant is blended into the hardener or the already mixed compound before pouring, starting with a minimal dosage of 0.1-0.3 grams per 100 grams of mass and gradually increasing intensity as needed. For candle wax and liquid soap the starting dosage usually sits around 0.2-0.5 percent of total mass, though the exact concentration should always be fine-tuned by testing, since final intensity depends heavily on the clarity and density of the base.
Black Agate pairs well with other liquid ultra pigments, allowing complex gradients and marble-like transitions. Combined with Lilac obsession liquid pigment ultra, it creates a striking gradient from deep black to soft lilac - a technique commonly used by resin artists and candle makers to achieve a starry sky or marbled stone effect. This approach requires no complex equipment and works even with small production volumes.
In cosmetic formulations the pigment is often paired with active botanical ingredients that handle the caring function while the colorant provides the visual effect. In tinting shampoos and hair masks it is combined with Bacopa Monnieri Extract, known for strengthening hair structure, while Honey Extract 25 percent is added to soften the texture and provide extra moisturizing benefits. This combination results in more than just a striking dark shade - it produces a genuinely functional care product.
Store the pigment in a tightly closed container, away from direct sunlight and freezing temperatures, at room temperature. When storage conditions are respected, the pigment retains its color stability and working properties throughout the entire stated shelf life. Before use, gently shake the bottle to restore uniformity after settling.
Agate-tinted care shampoo gel
Neutral shampoo base 90 grams
Bacopa Monnieri Extract 3 grams
Honey Extract 25% 5 grams
Black Agate liquid pigment ultra 0.3 grams
Distilled water 10 ml
Gently warm the shampoo base to 35-40 degrees Celsius over a water bath, then add the honey extract followed by the Bacopa Monnieri extract, stirring carefully until uniform. Next, add the pigment pre-dissolved in a small amount of distilled water and mix with slow circular motions until the color is evenly distributed without streaking. Transfer the finished product into a clean bottle and let it settle for 24 hours before use.
