Caproic Acid 1 kg

Caproic Acid as raw material for ester synthesis and industrial formulations

Caproic Acid is a short chain fatty acid used as an intermediate in the production of esters, aromatic compounds, and functional ingredients. It is applied in food, fragrance, cosmetic, and chemical industries where controlled reactions and consistent processing results are required.

Properties of Caproic Acid

Caproic Acid participates in esterification reactions with alcohols to form esters with fruity or fatty notes. It dissolves well in organic solvents and blends with oils and lipids. It has limited solubility in water. The raw acid has a strong characteristic odor that transforms into more pleasant aromatic profiles when converted into esters.

Application of Caproic Acid

Caproic Acid is used in the production of flavor and fragrance esters, in food processing as an intermediate component, in cosmetic formulations for synthesis of derivatives, and in technical chemical processes. It is suitable for manufacturing aromatic compositions and functional ingredients.

Behavior in formulation

Caproic Acid is introduced into systems as a reactive component or blend ingredient. In aqueous systems it is typically pre dissolved in alcohol or another compatible solvent. Under heating and with a catalyst it reacts to form esters.

Formulation incorporation

Caproic Acid is typically used at 0.1 to 3 percent in finished blends or according to stoichiometric requirements in synthesis processes.

Recipe Ethyl Caproate aromatic component

Ingredients
Caproic Acid 10 g
Ethanol 50 ml
Citric Acid 1 g
Purified Water 10 ml

Processing

Caproic Acid is mixed with ethanol and citric acid is added. The mixture is heated in a water bath at about 70 degrees for 1 to 2 hours. After the reaction, water is added and the mixture is stirred until uniform. The resulting product can be used as an aromatic component.

Instruction

Caproic Acid is used as a reactant for ester production. Ethanol acts as the alcohol base for the reaction. Temperature and processing time should be controlled for consistent results.
