What Makes Crystal Structure Emulsifiers Ideal for Lightweight Formulas
Emulsifier Crystal Cream belongs to the Emulsifiers
category and stands out for its ability to form a stable crystalline gel network within finished formulations. This structural feature gives creams and lotions a light, almost weightless texture without any greasy residue, which is why it is widely used in the production of daytime facial creams, fluid emulsions, body lotions and cream-gels. The compact 10 gram packaging makes it a practical choice for home-based formulation and small trial batches when a new recipe needs to be tested before scaling up.
Across global manufacturing, this type of emulsifier is not limited to skincare alone. It also appears in hand creams, sun care products, after-depilation balms and even certain household chemical formulas where a stable oil-in-water dispersion is needed without heaviness. Crystal Cream is typically introduced during the phase of combining the oil and water portions at around 70-75 degrees Celsius, followed by homogenization and gradual cooling to room temperature. The recommended usage level generally ranges from 3 to 6 percent of the total formula weight, depending on the desired thickness and oil phase content.
This raw material blends well with vegetable oils, silicone alternatives, botanical extracts and active ingredients that are added during the cooling stage to preserve their heat-sensitive properties. For formulas requiring extra firmness and a more structured texture, many formulators pair it with Sabowax LM 23, 50 g. When the goal is a gentler, more natural formulation without conventional surfactants, combining it with Sucragel CF 10 g is worth considering, while industrial and pharmaceutical-grade recipes demanding higher stability often rely on Emulpharma 1000 10 g.
Store the emulsifier in a dry place away from direct sunlight, at room temperature, in a tightly sealed container to prevent moisture absorption. Under these conditions, the material retains its emulsifying performance for a long period without losing effectiveness.
Lightweight Body Lotion
Distilled water 75 ml
Sweet almond oil 9 ml
Emulsifier Crystal Cream 4 g
Glycerin 4 ml
Niacinamide powder 1 g
Fragrance oil 4 drops
Heat
the water phase with glycerin and niacinamide to 70 degrees Celsius, then
separately heat the almond oil to the same temperature and stir in the emulsifier
until fully dissolved. Combine both phases while mixing continuously until a
smooth emulsion forms, then cool the mixture on a water bath, adding the
fragrance oil once the temperature drops to around 40 degrees. Pour the
finished lotion into a clean jar and allow it to stabilize for twenty four
hours before use.
