Reliable Base Emulsifier for High-Volume Barrier Cream Production
ErcaLan 75 in the 1 kg package is built for manufacturing lines that need consistent, batch-to-batch reliable emulsion performance. Derived from lanolin alcohol compounds, this emulsifier forms dense, separation-resistant water-in-oil systems, making it a workhorse ingredient for protective creams, ointment bases, and barrier balms produced at scale. It belongs to the Emulsifiers
section, where formulators find ingredients responsible for texture, stability, and shelf performance of finished products.
The primary demand for ErcaLan 75 comes from the production of rich nourishing creams for dry and rough skin, occupational hand protection creams, and pharmaceutical ointment bases used in dermatological preparations. Because of its lanolin-based structure, the emulsifier delivers strong occlusive properties, forming a thin film on the skin surface that slows moisture loss and improves the perceived softness of the product. Beyond cosmetics, the compound is also used in veterinary skin-care ointments and in certain industrial hand-protection creams where the emulsion must withstand mechanical stress and temperature fluctuations during storage and transport.
From a processing standpoint, ErcaLan 75 is added to the oil phase of the formulation and melted together with oils and waxes at 70-75 degrees Celsius. Recommended usage levels range from 3 to 8 percent of the total formula weight, depending on the required emulsion density and firmness. The ingredient pairs well with other emulsifiers and thickeners commonly used in cream formulation: combining it with Prolipid 141 emulsifier results in a lighter, more spreadable cream texture, while blending with Olivem 300 emulsifier is used in combined systems to improve thermal stability during storage. For labs and small facilities that want to trial a formulation before scaling production, a smaller ErcaLan75 25 g pack is available.
ErcaLan 75 should be stored in a tightly sealed container, in a dry area at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Under proper storage conditions, the material retains its performance characteristics for an extended period, which matters for manufacturers purchasing in bulk and stocking raw materials for several production cycles ahead. Its broad compatibility with vegetable and mineral oils, waxes, and active additives makes it a flexible building block for expanding a product line without reworking the core manufacturing process.
Heavy-Duty Occupational Hand Cream
Distilled water 610 ml
ErcaLan 75 48 g
Shea butter 85 g
Sunflower oil 55 g
Anhydrous lanolin 40 g
Beeswax 32 g
Glycerin 38 g

Heat
the water to 75 degrees Celsius using a water bath. In a separate container,
melt ErcaLan 75 together with shea butter, sunflower oil, lanolin, and beeswax
at the same temperature until fully uniform. Slowly pour the oil phase into the
water phase while continuously stirring until a dense, stable emulsion forms.
Once the mixture cools to 40 degrees, add glycerin, fragrance, and
preservative, mix thoroughly, and fill into jars for storage.
