Grape Seed CO2 Extract Brings Industrial-Scale Antioxidant Power to Skincare Lines
Grape Seed CO2 Extract is a concentrated substance obtained through supercritical carbon dioxide extraction from grape seeds left over after wine production. This extraction method preserves a maximum of biologically active compounds - polyphenols, proanthocyanidins, tocopherols and polyunsaturated fatty acids - without solvents or thermal degradation of valuable molecules. The 1 kg packaging is aimed at formulators and manufacturing labs that work with large batches of raw material and need consistent quality supplies from one production run to the next. This extract belongs to the category of CO2 Extracts, where botanical concentrates for professional formulation are gathered.
The main application of grape seed extract lies in the production of anti-aging and antioxidant cosmetics for face and body - serums, emulsions, creams and eye contour oils. Thanks to its high proanthocyanidin content, the compound demonstrates a pronounced ability to neutralize free radicals, which makes it valuable for anti-photoaging lines and products protecting cells from oxidative stress. Beyond cosmetics, the extract is widely used in dietary supplement and functional food manufacturing, as well as in pharmaceutical development, where its antioxidant and vascular-strengthening properties are highly valued. A separate application area is the fragrance and aromatic industry, where the extract is added in small concentrations as a base note component with a subtle nutty facet.
In formulations, the extract is introduced during the oil phase at a temperature not exceeding 40-45 degrees to avoid degrading heat-sensitive polyphenols. The recommended dosage ranges from 0.5 to 3 percent in the finished product depending on the desired effect and formula type. The compound pairs well with other CO2 extracts from the same line: for vascular-strengthening and toning compositions it is combined with Chestnut CO2 Extract, while for refreshing and sebum-balancing formulas for problem skin it works well alongside Mint CO2 Extract. For mature and tired eye contour care formulas, grape extract is often combined with Dill CO2 Extract, known for its soothing and drainage properties.
For industrial-scale manufacturing, it is important to consider the extract's compatibility with the emulsifiers and preservatives used in a specific formula, as well as to control uniform incorporation of the component when working with large batch volumes. The 1 kg packaging is convenient for conveyor-line production since it allows planning purchases for several manufacturing cycles ahead without frequent reorders, keeping the formula stable across all scaling stages from lab sample to full commercial batch. The extract should be stored in an airtight container, in a dark, cool place protected from direct sunlight and temperature fluctuations, which preserves the activity of its components throughout the shelf life.
