Why Water-Soluble Sesame Oil Works Better in Liquid Formulas
Sesame oil has long been valued in skincare and body care for its nourishing fatty acids, but in its regular form it does not mix well into water-based products - without an emulsifier it separates and leaves a greasy film. A specially processed water-soluble version solves this issue: a solubilizer allows the oil to disperse evenly through water without forming a separate oil layer. This ingredient belongs to the Water Soluble Oils category, which brings together similarly solubilized oils for gels, toners, foams and other liquid cosmetic bases.
The 25 ml size is aimed at home formulators and small trial batches, making it easy to test concentration and check how the oil behaves in a given recipe before ordering a larger volume for studio-scale production. The main field of use is the cosmetic industry: shower gels, shampoos, bath foams, moisturizing toners, body and hair sprays, and gentle formulas for sensitive skin. Sesame oil brings a softening, conditioning effect typical of its natural fatty acid profile, while the water-soluble form achieves this without a greasy feel or the risk of a product separating on the shelf.
Recommended dosage usually ranges from 1 to 5 percent of the finished product weight, depending on the desired level of conditioning and the type of base used. The oil is added to the water phase during cold mixing or with gentle warming up to 35-40 degrees, which is convenient when working with thicker gel bases. It is best introduced after the primary surfactants have already been diluted, to avoid excess foaming issues or loss of clarity in the final product. It pairs well with other solubilized oils from the same range, such as Water Soluble Jojoba Oil 25 ml, which lightens the overall texture, or Water-Soluble Almond Oil 10 ml, which adds extra softness for delicate skin formulas.
In household cleaning products and bath care items, water-soluble sesame oil is used to soften foam and liquid soap, and as an additive to cleaning formulas where maintaining clarity matters. When building multi-component formulas, it is worth considering compatibility with sulfated emulsifiers: Sulfated Castor Oil 50 g is often used as a secondary solubilizer and foam stabilizer in the same formulations, allowing several active oils to be combined without losing product homogeneity.
Store the oil in a tightly closed container, in a dry, cool place away from direct sunlight, at normal room temperature. Once opened, use the contents within a reasonable timeframe and avoid letting water get into the bottle before actual dosing. With small packaging like 25 ml, it is convenient to measure the oil precisely with a pipette or dosing syringe, which matters most for test batches where consistent results are important.
Soothing Bath Foam with Sesame Oil
Foam bath base 220 ml
Water Soluble Sesame Oil 7 ml
Glycerin 12 ml
Distilled water 25 ml
Preservative 3 ml
Fragrance 2 ml
Warm
the foam bath base gently to around 35 degrees, then stir in the glycerin and
distilled water until fully blended. Once the mixture has cooled to room
temperature, add the water soluble sesame oil, preservative and fragrance,
mixing thoroughly until the oil is completely incorporated. Pour the finished
foam into a clean bottle and let it rest for about a day so the texture
stabilizes before use.
