Product Description
How licorice CO2 extract supports brightening and calming skincare formulas
Licorice CO2 extract is obtained through supercritical carbon dioxide extraction from the plant root, which preserves a high concentration of natural flavonoids and glycyrrhizic acid without any solvent residues. This makes it a valuable concentrate for developing brightening creams, soothing serums and products designed to even out skin tone. It belongs to the category of CO2 Extracts, which brings together concentrated botanical extracts for professional cosmetic formulation. The 5 gram packaging is well suited for home cosmetic making and small trial batches when a formulator wants to test the concentration before committing to a larger production run.
The most common application of licorice extract is in anti-pigmentation and post-acne creams, serums for uneven skin tone, and calming products for sensitive or irritated skin. Its natural compounds show mild anti-inflammatory properties and help reduce redness, which is why the extract is frequently added to toners, emulsions, eye creams and masks. Beyond cosmetics, licorice concentrate is used in pharmaceutical development for dermatological formulations, and occasionally appears in food industry applications thanks to its naturally sweet undertone.
The extract should be introduced into the water or oil phase during the cooling stage, at a temperature not exceeding 40 degrees Celsius, to preserve the activity of its natural compounds. Recommended dosage ranges from 0.5 to 3 percent of the total formula weight, depending on the desired intensity of action. It pairs well with other CO2 concentrates, such as Licorice root CO2 extract for a stronger brightening effect, Fucus CO2 Extract for added hydration, and Rosemary CO2 Extract for extra antioxidant and toning properties in the finished product.
Store the extract in tightly sealed packaging, away from direct sunlight and heat sources, to prevent oxidation of the active compounds. Once opened, use the content within the timeframe recommended by the manufacturer, keeping it under stable cool storage conditions.
