A Concentrated Root Extract Built for Balancing Skin Formulas
Dandelion CO2 Extract in the compact 5 g pack is produced through carbon dioxide extraction of the plant root, a method that preserves the full complex of naturally occurring active compounds without relying on chemical solvents or high processing temperatures. This extraction technique is highly valued across cosmetic manufacturing precisely because it delivers a cleaner concentrate with minimal residue. The extract belongs to the CO2 Extracts section, which brings together plant concentrates obtained through the same supercritical process and widely used by formulators across multiple industries.
The primary demand for dandelion root CO2 extract comes from skincare formulations targeting oily and blemish-prone skin, as well as hair and scalp care products. Formulators typically add it to creams, serums, toners, and clay-based masks for its ability to support skin balance and enhance the functional profile of a finished product. Beyond cosmetics, the food supplement and functional nutrition industry also uses dandelion root extract as a source of natural bitter compounds and beneficial phytochemicals, making it a versatile raw material for laboratories working outside the beauty sector as well.
The small 5 g format is designed for home formulators and boutique labs running pilot batches or testing new formulas before scaling up production. Due to the extract's high concentration, it is used at low dosages, generally between 0.5 and 3 percent of the total formula weight, allowing even a small pack to support dozens of test batches. It is best introduced at the final stage of emulsion preparation, once the base has cooled to around 35-40 degrees Celsius, to protect heat-sensitive compounds from degradation.
This extract pairs well with other CO2-derived plant concentrates, enabling multi-component botanical blends with a broader functional profile. It is often combined with Chamomile CO2 Extract in formulas aimed at sensitive or irritated skin, and with Licorice CO2 Extract, which adds complementary functional properties to blemish-focused compositions. For antioxidant-rich products, dandelion extract can also be paired with Amaranth CO2 Extract, known for its beneficial oils and phytonutrients.
Store the extract in a tightly sealed container away from direct sunlight, at stable room temperature, away from heat sources. Under proper storage conditions, the product retains its stated activity for the full shelf life specified by the manufacturer.
Balancing Facial Toner with Dandelion Extract
Distilled water 50 ml
Witch hazel hydrosol 20 ml
Niacinamide 2 g
Glycerin 3 ml
Dandelion CO2 Extract 1 g
Xanthan gum 0.2 g
Broad spectrum preservative 1 ml
Combine
the distilled water and witch hazel hydrosol in a clean container, then slowly
sprinkle in the xanthan gum while whisking continuously until a smooth,
lump-free gel base forms. Let the mixture rest for 15 minutes to allow full
hydration, then dissolve the niacinamide and glycerin into the base. Once the
mixture has cooled below 30 degrees Celsius, add the Dandelion CO2 Extract and
preservative, mix thoroughly until uniform, and pour the finished toner into
sterile spray bottles.
