Eye Contour Complex water soluble botanical blend for lightweight eye care and gel based formulations
Eye Contour Complex is a combination of water based plant extracts including horsetail witch hazel licorice ginseng and ginkgo biloba combined into a single ingredient to simplify formulation design. INCI Equisetum Arvense Extract Hamamelis Virginiana Leaf Extract Glycyrrhiza Glabra Root Extract Panax Ginseng Root Extract Ginkgo Biloba Extract. The complex is intended for use in lightweight gel and emulsion products where stability of the aqueous phase and uniform distribution of actives are required without adding heaviness.
What it is and where it is used
Eye Contour Complex is used in formulations for the delicate eye area where fast absorption and light texture are important. Typical product formats include gels serums light creams and roll on applications.
The ingredient is particularly useful when multiple botanical extracts need to be incorporated into one system without increasing the number of separate raw materials. This simplifies formulation and improves production consistency.
How it works
The complex disperses uniformly in the aqueous phase forming a stable system due to the solubility of all components. Active compounds interact with the skin surface creating an even distribution layer.
The blend acts as a unified water based matrix that supports formulation stability and improves product spreadability. The mechanism is based on surface interaction without forming a dense film.
Properties
Eye Contour Complex provides a light texture and strong compatibility with water based and gel systems. It improves product distribution and supports a uniform formulation structure.
The blend remains stable within the typical pH range of cosmetic products and integrates easily into different formulation types. It allows replacement of multiple individual plant extracts with one ingredient.
Applications across industries
In cosmetics it is used in gels serums creams and roll on products for eye contour care. In skin care it is applied in lightweight fast absorbing products.
In professional cosmetic formulations it is used as a ready to use botanical complex. In spa products it is included in light gel and emulsion systems for delicate areas.
Behavior in formulation
Eye Contour Complex is fully water soluble and is incorporated into the aqueous phase. It does not interfere with emulsification but improves overall system uniformity.
It is compatible with polymer thickeners humectants and water soluble actives. It performs best in clear gels and light emulsions.
How to use
The ingredient is added during the cooling stage or at room temperature. Heating is not recommended to preserve the stability of the botanical extracts.
Gentle mixing is required to ensure uniform distribution without disrupting the formulation structure.
Recommended usage level
Typical usage ranges from 1 percent to 5 percent depending on formulation type and desired concentration of actives.
Formulation example
Refreshing and brightening eye contour gel
Purified Water — 840 ml
Glycerin — 30 ml
Hydroxyethylcellulose — 5 g
Eye Contour Complex — 35 ml
Panthenol — 10 ml
Caffeine — 5 g
Cucumber Extract — 20 ml
Phenoxyethanol Ethylhexylglycerin — 5 ml
Fresh Green Fragrance Oil — 2 ml
Processing
Glycerin is first mixed with water followed by dispersion of Hydroxyethylcellulose to form a gel base. After full hydration Eye Contour Complex is added and mixed until evenly distributed.
Panthenol Caffeine and Cucumber Extract are then incorporated. Phenoxyethanol Ethylhexylglycerin and Fresh Green Fragrance Oil are added afterwards. The system is mixed until fully homogeneous.
Important considerations
Eye Contour Complex is not a standalone base and must be used within a properly structured formulation.
To maintain its properties it should be added at low temperature. The ingredient performs best in water based and gel systems designed for lightweight texture and fast absorption.
