Clear Polymer Thickener for Small-Batch Gel Trials
ECOGEL is a modern polymer thickening agent that produces clear, stable gels without cloudiness or phase separation. The compact 10 gram size is designed for formulators who want to test a new gel recipe before scaling up, for home-based labs, or for anyone trying out a modern gelling system for the first time. This thickener falls under the category of Gelling Agents and Thickeners, which brings together components for building textures ranging from light lotions to firm, transparent gels, letting formulators quickly evaluate polymer behavior without committing a large batch of raw material.
The main application of ECOGEL lies in producing clear gels for skin and hair care - shower gels, shampoos, after-shave gels, intimate hygiene products, as well as decorative transparent gels used as a base for glitter and pigments. The component is widely used in household chemical production, including dishwashing gels and cleaning products, where clarity and stable viscosity without separation during storage are essential. In the pharmaceutical and parapharmaceutical sectors, similar thickeners are used to create clear carrier gels for delivering active ingredients onto the skin. Industrial manufacturers value ECOGEL for its tolerance to a wide pH range and good compatibility with electrolytes, including salt and acids, which broadens formulation possibilities across both budget and premium products.
Working with ECOGEL is straightforward: it should be dispersed in cold or slightly warm water, at a temperature not exceeding 40 degrees Celsius, since heating can reduce its thickening efficiency. The recommended dosage usually ranges from 0.5 to 3 percent of the total formula weight, depending on the desired gel firmness. It is added at the final stage of the process, after the remaining water-based ingredients have already been combined, under continuous slow mixing until fully dissolved with no lumps remaining. ECOGEL pairs well with other thickeners and stabilizers, such as Guar Gum when extra body and flow are needed, or Carrageenan for formulas requiring a firmer, more elastic gel structure. For transparent cosmetic systems where stability with surfactants matters, the component is often paired with Sucraclear HC-31, adding extra shine and a softer texture.
ECOGEL should be stored in a dry, cool place, in a tightly sealed container protected from direct sunlight and moisture, since the polymer is hygroscopic and can clump when exposed to air. Under proper storage conditions, it retains its thickening performance for a long time. This small pack size is convenient for cosmetic formulators and small studios testing new recipes before scaling production, as well as for home-based makers preparing single small batches of shower gel or decorative gel.
Clear Cooling Body Gel
Distilled water 145 ml
ECOGEL 3 g
Aloe vera liquid extract 10 ml
Glycerin 5 ml
Menthol crystals 0.2 g
Panthenol 2 ml
Preservative as per manufacturer instructions
Bring
the water to room temperature, then gradually sprinkle in ECOGEL while stirring
slowly until fully dissolved with no lumps. Once a smooth gel base forms, blend
in the aloe extract and glycerin, mixing until uniform. Dissolve the menthol
crystals in a small amount of warm glycerin separately, then add this solution
to the gel along with panthenol. Finish by adding the preservative, then let
the mixture rest for about 30 minutes to stabilize before bottling.
