Cutina PES emulsifier for stable oil in water cosmetic emulsions
Cutina PES is a nonionic emulsifier used in cosmetic formulations to create stable oil in water systems. It is applied in formulations where controlled viscosity consistent structure and reproducible production results are required. The ingredient is widely used in creams lotions and medium to light texture emulsions.
What it is and where it is used
Cutina PES is used as a primary emulsifier in creams lotions and emulsions for face body and hand care. It enables the combination of water and oil phases into a uniform system.
The ingredient is востребован in cosmetic manufacturing where long term stability during storage and transport is required. It is also used in spa formulations and base skin care products.
How it works
Cutina PES reduces interfacial tension between water and oil phases allowing formation of a stable emulsion. The emulsifier molecules position at the interface and stabilize oil droplets within the aqueous phase.
This results in a homogeneous structure that remains stable over time when the formulation is properly balanced.
Properties
Forms stable oil in water emulsions
Provides uniform texture
Allows viscosity adjustment
Compatible with a wide range of oils and actives
Suitable for hot process formulations
Supports long term stability
Applications across industries
In cosmetics it is used in creams lotions emulsions and masks
In skin care it is applied in base and functional formulations
In spa products it is used in cream systems
In manufacturing it is used as a primary emulsifier for oil in water systems
Behavior in formulation
Cutina PES is incorporated into the oil phase and requires heating for complete melting and activation. After emulsification it forms a stable system.
It performs well in combination with fatty alcohols and co emulsifiers which enhance structure and viscosity.
How to use
Add to the oil phase
Typical processing temperature is 70 to 75 degrees
High shear mixing is required after combining phases
Final structure develops during cooling
Recommended usage level
2 to 6 percent depending on formulation design
Lower levels for light lotions
Higher levels for medium viscosity creams
Formulation example
Basic moisturizing cream
Purified Water — 720 ml
Glycerin — 40 ml
Cutina PES — 50 g
Caprylic Capric Triglyceride — 100 ml
Cetyl Alcohol — 20 g
Sweet Almond Oil — 40 ml
Panthenol — 10 ml
Niacinamide — 20 g
Phenoxyethanol Ethylhexylglycerin — 5 ml
Soft Cream Fragrance Oil — 3 ml
Processing
Water and oil phases are heated separately to the same temperature. Cutina PES is added to the oil phase and fully melted.
The phases are combined with high shear mixing to form an emulsion and then cooled.
During cooling Panthenol Niacinamide Phenoxyethanol Ethylhexylglycerin and Soft Cream Fragrance Oil are added. Mixing continues until uniform.
Important considerations
Cutina PES requires heat for proper functionality
Combining with fatty alcohols improves stability
Viscosity depends on oil phase composition
Correct emulsification process is critical for stability
