Olive Squalane stabilized plant derived lipid from olive oil for cosmetic formulations
Olive Squalane is a stabilized plant derived lipid produced from olive oil through hydrogenation of natural squalene. The ingredient appears as a clear colorless oily liquid with a light fluid texture and neutral odor. The material is highly resistant to oxidation and remains stable during long term storage. It is fully soluble in lipid media including vegetable oils, esters and silicone emollients. Insoluble in water and therefore incorporated into the oil phase of emulsions or oil based formulations. Due to its lightweight sensory profile and compatibility with skin lipids Olive Squalane is widely used in modern cosmetic products for skin and hair care.
Properties and sensory performance
In cosmetic formulations Olive Squalane provides a smooth silky texture and improves spreadability across the skin surface. It contributes to lightweight sensory properties and supports uniform texture in both oil and emulsion systems.
Industry applications
Olive Squalane is used in facial creams, serums, oil concentrates, balms and body care formulations. The ingredient is widely applied in professional skincare lines, SPA products and functional cosmetic systems. Due to its light texture the material is frequently used in modern formulations including emulsions, fluid creams and oil serums. It is commonly used in private label development and contract manufacturing where formulation stability and reproducibility are required for industrial scale production.
Formula example
Olive Squalane 85 ml
Jojoba oil 75 ml
Grape seed oil 65 ml
Rice bran oil 55 ml
Cetearyl alcohol 22 g
Purified water 470 ml
Glycerin 60 g
Vitamin E 8 g
Cetearyl alcohol is heated with vegetable oils and squalane until a uniform oil phase is obtained. Vitamin E is incorporated into the oil phase with continuous mixing. In a separate vessel purified water and glycerin are blended to form the aqueous phase. The aqueous phase is gradually introduced into the oil phase with continuous mixing forming a stable emulsion. After emulsification the pH of the aqueous phase is adjusted to a balanced level resulting in a cream with a smooth silky texture.
Olive Squalane is positioned for B2B cosmetic manufacturers, formulation laboratories and contract production facilities. The ingredient ensures stable emulsions, reproducible formulation behavior and compatibility with scalable industrial manufacturing.
