Getting a Reliable Blue Tone in Small-Batch Formulations
This liquid blue pigment in a compact 10 ml bottle is designed for home crafters and small-scale makers who need a predictable, consistent color result from the very first batch. The small volume makes it ideal for testing new formulas, running trial batches, or working in a home studio before scaling up. This pigment belongs to the wider category of Pigments Liquid, known for their stable color output and resistance to migration throughout the lifetime of the finished product.
The primary demand for this pigment worldwide comes from decorative cosmetics and household chemical products: it is commonly added to bath bombs and bath salts, shower gels, body scrubs, dish soaps, and liquid hand soaps, where an even, streak-free color is essential. Candle makers rely on blue liquid pigment just as heavily, since it delivers a rich, uniform tint to wax without clouding gel or paraffin blends. Crafters working with epoxy resin and polymer clay also turn to liquid pigments for deep, fade-resistant coloring in decorative pieces and jewelry. Occasionally the pigment finds use in soap making as well, producing clean blue and turquoise shades in both cold and hot process soap.
The pigment should be added once the base has cooled to a workable temperature — for waxes this typically means 60-70 degrees Celsius, while cosmetic emulsions and gels should not exceed 40 degrees at the point of addition to prevent breakdown of the coloring particles. A starting dosage of 0.1-0.5 grams per 100 grams of base is recommended, with the exact amount best determined through gradual testing until the desired intensity is reached. The pigment blends smoothly with oils, waxes, and water-based systems, and pairs well with other shades from the same range — combine it with Red wine liquid pigment for deep violet and plum tones, or with Green liquid pigment to create turquoise and sea-inspired shades. To soften the tone and achieve pastel blues, blend in White Liquid pigment.
Store the pigment in a tightly sealed container, away from direct sunlight and away from heat sources, at a stable room temperature to preserve color consistency. Shake the bottle gently before use, as some natural separation can occur during storage.
Ocean Wave Bath Bomb
Baking soda 100 g
Citric acid 50 g
Sweet almond oil 15 ml
Blue liquid pigment 4 drops
Sea breeze fragrance oil 3 ml
Spherical bath bomb mold 1 set
Combine the baking soda and citric acid thoroughly in a dry bowl, then slowly work in the almond oil until the mixture reaches a texture similar to damp sand. Add the blue pigment and fragrance oil, mixing quickly and evenly to avoid premature fizzing, then press the mixture firmly into the mold halves, join them together, and allow the bath bomb to dry fully for at least 24 hours before removing it from the mold.
