A Gentle Emulsifying Base Built for Small-Batch Skincare Trials
The 50 g package of ERCAMULS LF 10 V/FD is designed for formulators who want to test a new cream or lotion recipe without committing to a large volume of raw material. This ingredient belongs to the Emulsifiers
category, which brings together substances capable of binding water and oil phases into a stable, uniform system that resists separation over time. Its main application is in skincare manufacturing - facial creams, body lotions, balms and light emulsions - and thanks to its mild profile it works well in sensitive-skin and baby care formulations.
Globally, emulsifiers of this type are heavily used in the production of day and night creams, sunscreen emulsions, moisturizing body lotions, and also in pharmaceutical manufacturing for ointment and cream bases. There is a growing demand from the natural and organic cosmetics sector, where a light, non-greasy after-feel is highly valued. A small 50 g pack is ideal for home-based cosmetic making and pilot batches before scaling up production.
Recommended dosage typically ranges from 3 to 8 percent of total formula weight depending on the desired consistency and oil phase load. The emulsifier is added to the oil phase during heating at 70-75 degrees Celsius, after which both phases are combined at matching temperatures using a mixer or homogenizer. It pairs well with electrolytes such as Magnesium Sulfate, which helps further stabilize the emulsion structure and adds body to the final texture. For thicker, richer formulations it is often combined with ERCAMULS LF 65, allowing formulators to adjust consistency from a light lotion to a dense cream.
To add a soft finishing touch and pleasant scent, small amounts of Rose Wax are sometimes blended into such emulsions, giving the cream a subtle floral note and silky feel. The emulsifier should be stored in a dry, cool place away from direct sunlight and moisture, in a tightly sealed container to preserve its properties over time. Beyond cosmetics, similar emulsifiers are also used in food processing for sauces and creamy fillings, as well as in select household chemical products requiring stable emulsions.
